Reading Multiple Choice Answers

Answers for All About Rice multiple choice reading.

1. B is the correct answer

This is testing both your vocabulary and general understanding of the passage. In the passage, it says ‘rice is grown everywhere except Antarctica’. This means it is grown everywhere except one place = almost everywhere = nearly everywhere)
The key words in question 1 are ‘where’ – this means you are look for place names & ‘grown’ – this might be paraphrased to ‘cultivated’ in academic texts.
2. C  is the correct answer

The answer can’t be B because no information is given about the amount of land used for rice growing in China.

  4. I’m curiously wondering why the answer of question 2 is C. I initially chose A. Can u g=please give more specific explanation!!!

    • Sounds like you got distracted by the number 1.5 and didn’t pay attention to whether it is miles or kilometers.

  5. Edikan says

Happy New Year Liz. You are really God sent. I found your lessons very insightful. Please could you explain why the answer for 2 is C?

    • It can’t be A because A is about miles and the passage is about km. It isn’t B, because the part of the passage relating to 1.3km is about Asia, not China alone. So, that leaves C which is correct. When referring to 1.5km square of land, it is in the context of the whole world. Don’t get lost with the numbers – pay attention to the details and meaning.
