  1. The diagram illustrates the method using for storage and purification of rain water naturally for an Australian town.

Overall, the diagram reveals different stages of water purification followed by storage of rain water, which include water filter for filtering, storage tanks for storing and adding chemicals for purifying and finally getting clear water through taps for drinking.

To begin detail with the process. On the first stage ,the rain water falls on the terrus collected through the piping system and passes through a water filter ,which helps to filter the soiled water. This clear water have been stored in the water tank.

Secondly, the stored water have passed through a pipe line to the other tank in which water purification by using chemicals be done. Here the water should be free from toxic materials and bacterias by certain chemicals like chlorine, potassium permanganate etc. Finally the clear and plentiful water will get through the taps connected to it.

To conclude,I would like to say that this is a good as well as easy process for water purification ,so that its safe for the people in all aspects ,to make in to practice.

    Hi liz
The diaagram illustrates about the process of rain water use for drinking water after the certain proces in Austrailian town.
Overall it can be seen that it is four stages process cotaining water collection from rain, filterization, storage, chemical process respectively paseses through pipe lines.
Firstly, the rain water from house spouts goes to drain then passes to fiter plant.afterthat Where through filter machine it clears from dirt & pollution, After filterization goes in to storage tank. Where it stores rain water after filter for futher procedure.
Secondly.from storage tank water moves into chemical section where it purified through chemical process. Chemicals are use to clear the water from side effects of rain water. Here at this last but not least stage water become clear from impurities which may be harmful & dangerous for health.
Finally , after a long process of clearance & filterization water become purified , usefu safe & sound .Then it comes into house taps through
pipe lines for drinking and for other use.

  3. The diagram illustrates the method of collecting rainwater from each of the Australian houses and ways of processing it so as to utilize for drinking purpose.
Overall, the process involves four major stages, beginning with the collection of rainwater followed by purification and storage and culminating in supplying back to the houses in Australia.
In the first step, water pouring from the clouds on the roofs of the houses is allowed to drain through a collecting pipe. The next step is removing the impurities from water in the pipe by passing it through the filtration unit before collecting into a storage tank.
Following this, filtered water is passed into an another storage tank of similar size, which is aided by using an interconnecting pipe between two reservoirs. After that, chemicals are added to ensure water is suitable for drinking purpose. Finally, this purified rainwater, which is considered safe for public to drink is supplied back to each Australian households.
    many thanks

The diagram illustrates how Australian collects rainwater for consumption after some processes. The step by step method as seen in the diagram has been used and still on, in the Australia to generate drinking water during the rainy season.
From the illustrated diagram it can seen that the rainwater after coming down from the roof of the house, it’s been channelled through the pipe beside the building directly for filtration to eliminate clumps and other particles, to be stored in on a large container.
The stored rainwater that has undergone filterstion processes will further be treated with a chemical may be Chlorine to keep it safe from germs and other micro organism that might be present. After then, the Chlorinated rainwater is been distributed to Australians for drinking and for daily consumption

  5. The illustration demonstrates the process of rain water collection and prepation for consumption in an Australian town. It can be clearly seen that there are four stages used for the completion of the cycle for a safe drinking water .These stages are ;collection, filteratioin, storage and chemical process.

Firstly, the initial process begins by collection of rain water through a drain, some of the water in the drain passes downward through a water filter for filteration. Interestingly, there is a connecting tube which collects water from the filter into a storage tank located vertically below the tube .After this phase , stored water undergo the last stage of purification which is chemicalisation .Importantly, this is done in a different tank but similar in size to the temporally collection tank and directly opposite to the left side of this tank. The water in the reserviour is transfered via a connecting pipe into the second tank containing the purifying agents. Finally, water leaving the treatment centre becomes good for drinking and are collected from the tap.

The entire process shows that rain water needs to be treated before it becomes fit for the public to drink.

    Hi Liz,
The diagram illustrates a method of rainwater harvesting and its treatment as drinking water in an Australian town.
The procedure of rainwater treatment can be divided as four stages as the flow of water which comprises the collection, purification, storage and distribution. The first stage is the collection of rainwater from the roof of houses trough a drainage pipe. In the second phase, drainage pipe is connected to a water filter, that purify the rain water.
After filtration, water is stored in two big storage tanks which are connected through a pipe. Some chemical agents are added to the water in the second storage tank. Finally, the purified water is distributed for the drinking purpose.
This method of rainwater harvesting helps the Australian town to re-use the wastewater for the drinking purpose in a sustainable manner.

  8. Hi liz
.the diagram illustrate the way in which rain water is purified for drinking purpose in a town of Australia.
overall, water has to pass through four different stages before being ready for drinking pur
poses and this process involves four tools.
in the initial stage rain water is collected through the drains on the roof of the house,it is then directed towards the filter plant by pipes,.from there filtered water is transferred to a large storage tank via pipes and is stored there before the final process in which this water is once again poured to another tank for chemical treatment which makes the water suitable for drinking and through pipes is available for drinking and other household use.

  9. Cicero Elias says

    Hi all.

I have understood that there is no possibility to mix treated/purified to uncleaned water, once it is sorted out by double closed pipe. Uncleaned water which escapes, depending on the pressure, goes along the tube and turns back to be filtered, thus the system is closed and does not allow moisture. Unfortunately, the diagram required a bit more attention on that section.
    These is my viewpoint.

    Cícero Elias, Mozambique.

    • Yes there is an issue with the pipe system. However, Fay has done a fantastic job to remember so much and produce this diagram.
      All the best

  11. The diagram illustrates the collection of rain water that use for drinking purpose later in Australian town.
Overall, the process mainly focus on four stages i.e. drain of water through drain tubes, water filtration chamber, storage of water in storage tank and lastly chemical treatment plant.
Firstly, the rain water is collected through drain tube which is fitted on the roof of house and connected to water filtration machine. Secondly, the filtration machine filters impurities which present in rain water. Then filtrated water store in storage tank in third stage.
on the last stage, the filtrated water drain to chemical treatment plan from storage tank. In this stage, some specific chemicals mix with water and purify the water through chemical method which helps to kill microbes. And finally, the purified water supply to the town for drinking purpose.

  12. Risvana says

The diagram illustrates the method of collection of rain water and how it is then used as purified water suitable for drinking in an Australian town.
Overall, rain water is passed through four different stages before being used as drinking water. This is a complex procedure which requires a drain tube, water filter, storage tank, container and certain chemicals.
In the first stage of producing drinking water, rain water is drained through tubes connected to roof of the houses. Addition to this, a water filter is connected to the drain tube in which the collected rain water passes through. From here impurities are removed and filtered water is then transferred to storage tank.
This purified water remains in the storage tank for a long time. From here water is further transferred into a big container to treat it with specific chemicals. As a result of this treatment all remaining impurities are removed and finally clean water is passed through a pipe and used as drinking water.

  13. Rajagopal says

The diagram narrates of model for rain water collection, storage and reuse for drinking purpose at home in Australia. Firstly, rain water getting on roof top is move down to storage dank. Dust particle in the water get removed by passing through a filter before get into the dank. From there it is transfered to a treatment tank where it got treated with antiseptic chemicals. After that the treated water is pumped for reuse in the household. Once again, the water comes from kitchen goes through filteration and chemical treatment for reuse.

  14. Ayat Ahmed says

The shown diagram illustrates how rain water is tackled to be valid as drinking water in Australia.Overall, this process occurs into four stages(Collecting rain water and drain it,Filtration,Storage and Chemical treatments),which begins with gather the water of rain and ends with deliver the drinking water to consumers.

Firstly, the rain water is collected in specific places. Then, pass it throw pipes to drain it.After that unfiltered water underwent to some filtration.

Secondly,it is stored in repositories in order to pass it into the fourth step throw tubes to tackle it chemically. From this stage the water goes to the last point, which is consuming water as acceptable drinking water. The water from last stage may recycle these steps again, if it is no free of impurities.

I know I have done many mistakes please point out these ones for me and tell me how many bands i can get with writing like this?

The above diagram represent the recycling of rain water in one of the city of Australia, which further uses it for drinking purposes. Recycling of water contains four steps.
In first step, rain water passes through water filter where all the impurities of water absorbed this process in known as filtration. In second step, filtered water moves through pipe and stores in large area called dam. The main purpose of water storage in dam is we can use it latter on. In third and most important step, water is transfer from one dam to other where all necessary chemical like chlorine is mixed with water to makes it more clean and germs free, after the chemical reactions water is in pure form and drinkable. Finally in the fourth step, water drains through tube and evacuate from valve in houses for daily use and waste water evaporate which come back again in form of rain.
Above four steps clearly show that how water undergoes through a cycling in Australian city in an effective way and makes the water free of impurities that can be use for drinking.

The diagram illustrates the various stages used to gather rain water and make it fit for drinking purposes in a township of Australia.
Overall, the collection and treatment of water is a cyclic process containing seven steps starting from accumulation of water flowing in drains and ending up by filtration of water soiled after once used.
To begin with, rain water from house roofs dribbles down to the drains through pipes. This collected water is then passed through water filters, where cleaning and water filtration takes place. After that, the filtered water is stored in a storage tank, which is transferred into another tank with the help of a pipe.
Thereafter, water is purified with certain chemicals to make it fit for drinking. Subsequently, this clean and purified water is supplied to houses for usage in many purposes. Finally, after using the soiled water is again sent to water filter devices, so that it can be recycled again.

    thanks teacher for good information
please, can you give us optimal writing for this task
    thank you

  19. Hi! Thanks for sharing the description of the diagram. It’ s good, but there are some flaws in it.
    1. No Future Simple for describing diagrams, only Present Simple or passive voice..
2.Avoid personal pronouns (“As we can see”), “it can be seen” sounds better.
    3. Another mistake is “house’s roof”, the correct form is “the roof of the house”.
4.Instead of “Secondly” you should write “After that/ Then/ The second stage”.
5.Until it reaches the first storage of water ( no preposition)
6.Clean water (in the last sentence), no article after uncountable nouns.
I hope that my comments will help you to improve your writing skills. good luck!
    Best wishes,
    Helen.

This image describes the rain water harvesting mechanism illustrating how the rain water is stored and tarnsformed as a drinking water in a small town. Intially, the rain water is collected in the drain beneath the house. It is then passed to the storage tank through a pipe where its stored. The next stage is it is passed to another tank where it is chemically processed. At last this chemically treated water is supplied to the households in the form of pure drinking water.

  21. Cicero Elias says

The diagram depicts a process how rain water is gathered and treated for usage as drinking water for an Australian city.

Overall, rain water pass trough four stages before being available for drinking. Namely: rain water into water filter, storage, chemical treatments and then drinking water. Almost all steps go by unique pipes until the end. Sole exception, is found between the first and last step which the vessel is double but closed.

The first step involves, rain water which is collected and drained into water filter through gravity. In the second step, it is stored in a large reservoir and also estabilished a link with the third stage by single pipe. There, starts the chemical treatments to turn the water drinkable.

Lastly, treated water flows up from the chemical treatments vessel to the tube in order to be used as drinking water.

  22. The diagram demonstrates how water derives from precipitation is recycled and converted into drinking water for a town in Australia.

Overall, the transformation process follows a cycle and consists of five stages: collection-filtration-storage-treatment with chemicals-distribution . Then, the process restarts again with collection. The procedure happens inside the house’s foundation .

Initially, rainfalls are collected from the roof of a house through a drain and directed to a filter located in the foundation of the house via a pipe. From there, the water reaches a storage container . Its is then directed through a tube inside another canister where it is treated with chemicals to make sure it is safe for consumption. Following this disinfecting process , the water can be use for drinking and is distributed via tap in the house. Finally, waste water is redirected back into the drain and the process restart.

    Many Thanks.

  23. thanks so much for the tips am sitting the test soon but had no idea what am expected of going through this website has been useful to me and my husband. thank you Liz.

  24. Thank you Liz!

As far as I remember, the picture on the left hand side looked like a toilet, but I think it illustrates the drinking water that is supplied to tap.

    • Yes it does look like a tap rather than a toilet. The issue with this diagram is that the rainwater in the drink is running to the toilet and mixing with drinking water. This must be wrong. Surely the rainwater drain went to the filter, not all the way to the tap. If it ran to the tap, how did the two pipes join? In your diagram the two pipes are open to each other. Are the arrows going in the right direction? Think a bit more about the pipe system, the length of the pipes, the end of the pipes and the arrows. Let me know if you can correct the diagram or add more to it. Let me know if you want me to draw an alternative diagram.
      Thanks
      Liz

      • Hi Liz,

Please feel free to replace the diagram with an alternative one.

Sorry, I did not draw the pipes clear enough,The drain and pipe for drinking water is not joined.
Actually, I was also confused about the toilet, pipes and the arrows on the exam, since they were not labeled and the connections of the pipes and drain were not drawn clearly, so the only thing that was clear to write about it was the direction of water flow in the pipe and drain and I wrote: “It is interesting to note that the direction of water flow in the pipes and drain is opposite”.

        • You’ve done amazingly well to remember so much and draw such a great diagram. I’ll see what I can do with the diagram 🙂
          All the best
          Liz

          • You are very welcome. I would love to share anything that might help other candidates.

May I ask a quick question? I know that edible is used for food that could be eaten, but I’m wondering if it’s okay to use “edible” to paraphrase “drinkable”?

Also, in order to paraphrase “fall”, is it okay to say: rainwater is “dropped” on the roof….?

            • All good questions. The answer is no to both. Edible is only for food. Writing about drinking water, we refer to clean water or water fit for drinking or for consumption. For rainwater, you can write about rain falling but not dropping. When something is dropped”, it is dropped by something or someone, for example dropped by a machine or a person. I’ll look online tomorrow to find more information about using rainwater as drinking water to try and alter the diagram – hope I find something 🙂
              Liz

              • Thank you Liz.

              • Hi Liz,
I attended this exam, and can help you with more details about the diagram.
How may I send you a photo ?

                Thanks

                • Sorry, only just seen your message here. Thanks for emailing the changes to the diagram. I hope to have this ready for everyone soon.
                  Liz

  25. Hi,
I had the same diagram on 10th October in Edmonton, AB Canada:)

    • Hi Olena,
Do you remember the picture on the left hand side? To me, it looked like a toilet.

Also, did you have the same questions for listening, reading, and writing task 2? do you remember the answers for reading and listening?
I already posted the questions that I recalled from Oct. 10th in the “recent exam question” section.

      Thank you

The picture illustrates the collection of rain water and how is prepared for Australian town, to use it as a fresh water suitable for drinking in different stages .
Overall, there are four variant stages to make the rain water acceptable to drink . They are: draining of rain water , filtration , storage and treatment of rain water with chemicals .
As we can see , the first stage , rain water is collected by drain tube which is located at house’s roof and side . Secondly, the collected water is filtered by the water filter . Then, it passes through the tube until it reaches to the first storage of the water .
After that , it runs through the connecting tube to the next storage where it will treated by adding chemicals . The final stage of this process , the treated water passes through tube and it is ready for use as a clean water for drinking .
