Hey liz , I am such joy that I can’t even express . Basically I had a month to prepare but I tend to procrastinate a lot and ended up with 2 weeks of time on my hand and even in those two weeks I couldn’t focus much and sit for long hours
One of those days I took the initiative and started searching for study material and links on Reddit and quora and most comments mentioned IELTS liz to be the most reliable . I thought for a while and ended up on the decision let’s give it a go and started watching your YouTube videos. Halfway through I found your video about your personal life and I felt so bad as to why it’s only the kindest of souls who face the most painful challenges in life . From that day on I had a clear aim and motive and wanted to score good band score so I could come to this comments section and post it in the hopes of getting a reply from your side
I gave my test on 31/09/2025 and got the result on the very next day . I scored 8.5 in listening , 8 in speaking , 7 in reading and 7 in writing , with an overall band score of : 7.5
After thanking the lord the next thing that popped in my head was to come here and comment my grades . I am just one of the lucky aspirants who you have motivated and encouraged . Thank you liz thanks a lot . I pray for your health and I have faith that everything will get better and you would be able to frequently upload on yt cuz I know it’s brings you a great amount of joy and happiness .
I am planning to do my postgrad in the UK , I wish I could meet you and thank you in person . Stay happy stay blessed Liz
I’m so thrilled for you. A band score 8.5 overall is fantastic!! Very well done to you 🙂 Thank you for watching my personal video. I’m glad you felt motivated and clearly you nailed your test! Hats off to you! Good luck with your postgrad studies 🙂
Dear Liz,
I want to express my heartfelt gratitude for the incredible work you’ve done through your YouTube channel and website. Your simplistic, step-by-step methods and the way you dissect every part of the IELTS exam made my two-week preparation so much easier and far less overwhelming.
Even though many of your videos are over 9 years old, they remain as relevant and impactful as ever. I found myself switching between your YouTube channel and your website, and every single lesson gave me clarity and confidence.
Interestingly, your name popped up as the number one recommendation when I searched online for trusted IELTS resources. The very next day, my sister—who wrote her IELTS in 2022—also recommended your channel when I told her I had only two weeks and no online resources to prepare with. I’m so glad I listened.
Thanks to your guidance, I scored Listening 8.0, Reading 8.0, Writing 7.0, and Speaking 7.5 (Overall Band 7.5) on my test on the 2nd of August 2025.
I know you’re currently facing some health challenges, and I pray for your strength and full recovery. Please know that your work continues to change lives, including mine.
With deepest gratitude,
Peace
Very well done with your results!! An overall 7.5 is excellent. I’m so glad you could find the support you needed through my videos and website. I wanted people to use them both together for their free preparation. It sounds like you took everything on board and nailed it!! Good for you!! And thank your sister for me – I hope she did well in her test too 🙂
Hi Liz.
I took my test on 19/7/2025 and I scored an overall score of 7.5.
Listening- 7.5
Reading- 7.5
Writing- 6.5
Speaking- 8.5
I want to thank you from bottom of my heart because without you I wouldn’t have secured this score. I struggled with writing your lessons and model answers made me confident. Let me tell you something, I actually signed up for a class for IELTS but their level of knowledge or understanding of the exam was no where near yours. If I had not stumbled upon your YouTube lessons and this website I would’ve never achieved the required score. You’re an amazing teacher and a generous human. I still can’t believe how you have made this incredible website free?? I was in shock when I first saw your website and all the informations it holds- all for free. 😳 Thank you for helping so many students. All your efforts are deeply appreciated.
I love your work. ❤️🤗 I pray for your health.
Thankyou Liz 🙏
Well done with your score! I’m so glad you appreciate my website. It certainly grew a lot bigger than I had planned because I just love making lessons. Wishing you all the best with your next steps in life 🙂
Hey Liz!!
I’m Yousef, a high school student from Egypt. Took the IELTS CBT to have better opportunities at studying abroad. I was aiming for 7.5 overall and started prepping with you like two weeks ago. Everything I know about IELTS from the information about the test to every detail of each band score is just from your website, lessons, and recommended resources. Just got back my scores yesterday:
Listening: 9.0
Reading: 8.0
Writing: 7.0
Speaking: 7.0
Overall: 8.0
I literally owe my writing score to you. When I started prepping, I was around 5.5 in Writing and I knew it would hurt my score, through you’re YouTube lessons and this amazing website, I managed to improve significantly.
I just can’t thank you enough, you’re truly an amazing person for putting all of these free materials online and investing so much time in this cause. I wish if there is a way to support you or pay back what you do for us.
I hope you have a great day!
SENDING LOVE FROM EGYPT!!
Yousef, very well done to you! You obviously soaked up everything there was to know and applied it correctly. This really goes to show what you can achieve in life and that you have a bright future ahead of you. Always believe in yourself! Thanks for coming back to tell me. I’m so very happy for you. Wishing you all the best going forward in your life, Liz 🙂
Hi Liz,
I used your material to study for the Academic IELTS + Advanced video. I followed all your tips, especially in reading. I got my result in 26 May, but I forget to share my score.
I got 7.5 overall
L=8
R=8.5
W=6.5
S=6.5
I am happy because I got this score without asking for special arrangements, as I am an ADHD person, and I am suffering from anxiety.
Well done with your results! I feel your scores are important for everyone to see. When you have ADHD, tests like IELTS can be so much more challenging than for other people, and the fact that you still did so well is something to inspire other people with ADHD. And considering you didn’t as for special compensation really goes to show your character and abilities. I think you did brilliantly! You should be proud to do so well. So many people can’t hit those scores, particularly band 8.5 in reading – fantastic!! I hope you continue to nail everything you set your mind to in life 🙂
congratulations on your score. you did so well.
Hi Liz, I used your resources for 2 weeks before sitting for my test. I’m so happy to report that I got an 8.5 overall. L 9, R 9, W 8, S 8.5
I was extremely nervous for the writing component and I’m just so thrilled to get the bands I needed. Thank you so much! May God bless you always.
Absolutely excellent results!! I’m so very happy for you. Very well done indeed 🙂
Hi Liz,
I recently took the IELTS academic (paper-based) for the first time here in New Zealand and just received my results. I’m very happy to share that I achieved an overall band score of 8.0, with the following breakdown:
Listening: 8.0
Reading: 8.5
Writing: 7.5
Speaking: 7.0
To the best of my memory, these were the rough topics I received in the exam:
Speaking
Part 1: Career, working from home, T-shirts, weather
Part 2: What would you do when you lose your confidence during study or work?
Part 3: Self-confidence, cautiousness vs self-confidence in business, optimism in world
leaders
Writing
Task 1: Two maps showing changes over 20 years in a public museum
Task 2: Nowadays, more and more people are throwing away and replacing their phones
and clothes with the latest versions and trends. Does this have more disadvantages
than economic advantages?
I prepared for about a month using only your website along with the Cambridge IELTS books. Your materials and guidance were incredibly helpful, and I’m so grateful for the support your platform offers to students like me.
Wishing you all the very best, and sending loads of love from Sri Lanka!
Very well done with your results!! You should be very proud of an overall band score 8!! Thanks for sharing your topics, very interesting. Consumerism is a common topic for writing task 2, and you obviously did it very well. Best wishes to you all in Sri Lanka 🙂

Hello mam, I want to change my legal name after I attempt my IELTS, So it will obviously be changed in my Passport, will it create any problem with my IELTS result? Will my IELTS result with old name not be valid anymore? Will I have to attempt IELTS again with my new legal name?
Your IELTS certificate will always be valid for 2 years. When you change your name legally, you will have a document that shows your old name and new name, you can show this any time you use your IELTS certificate which uses your old name. This is the same with university degrees etc. Most certificates are still valid even with your old name. However, you should contact IELTS and ask them if they can reissue the certificate with your new name, but with the original date. Some companies/educational institutions do this and some don’t, so you will need to check with IELTS about their policy. Regardless, your certificate should still be valid with your old name, but please always check with IELTS and get their reply in writing.
Dear Liz,
I hope you’re doing well. I just wanted to take a moment to sincerely thank you for all the invaluable materials you’ve provided. I’m thrilled to share that I achieved my desired IELTS result—an overall band score of 8, with 8.5 in Listening , 8.5 in Reading, 7.0 in Writing, and 7.5 in Speaking.
Your website has been a true lifesaver, especially for writing, which I struggled with the most. I even purchased your advanced lessons, and they proved to be incredibly helpful.
Once again, thank you so much for your guidance and support. I used to take motivation from this page and I’m excited that it’s finally my turn to share my success.
Wishing you all the best, and may you continue to inspire and help others!
Very well done with your results!! It’s great that this page gave you inspiration. I want everyone to see what is possible and to never give up. Getting 8.5 in reading and listening is excellent. Thanks for coming back to share your results 🙂

Dear Liz,
Thank you so much for the wonderful work you are doing. Really Appreciate it. I wish to apply for masters and one month before I got to know that I didn’t meet the entry requirement. So I decided to take up the test and can’t thank you enough that in just 3 weeks I could achieve the band score 7.5. Your content covers almost everything that one needs to pass the exam successfully. I did not have much time otherwise I am sure if I had purchased your other study material for more practice, I would have definitely scored more to best of my ability. Anyways I got what I wanted 🙂 Highly recommend !
Regards,
Akanksha
I’m so pleased for you. Band 7.5 overall is a great score!! Very well done 🙂
Spent 3 weeks revising – Especially reviewing Liz’s writing model answers. These exemplars are fantastic to study as they give you a great guide to the writing structure and ideas.

Well done hitting band score 8 overall !! I’m glad you found my site useful 🙂
Hello I’m so surprised and happy with your score and congrat on it can you share some information about your reading plzzzzz
Hello,
My reading score is 7 and I am very proud of that because it was really my weakness.
I would like to add to help others score well in reading section; as mentioned by Liz ” we don’t have to understand each and every word in the passage”. This technique has helped me to skim through the passage quickly. Secondly, finish all questions of one passage before moving to next ( dont give 2nd thought to overthink answers) as trust me you wont find even a single minute extra to look back to the previous questions and moreover you would have forgotton the context at all. Next is ,I spent less time for the first two passages like about 10 mins for passage 1 and 15 mins for passage 2 because 3rd passage takes usually more time and questions are also challenging to answer. I also started attempting questions like matching headings and paragraph linking first, as here we need to read the passage thoroughly*, so it’s helpful afterwards to answer true/false and sentence completion questions. Last and could be very useful when you are scanning and reading full paragraph then it’s a good idea to keep noting down quickly about the message(max. two words) given in passage. It helped me alot to attempt other questions because I had great difficulty to remember what the paragraph was about and had to read all paragraphs again and again.
thoroughly* – reading first two and last two lines of a paragraph gives good idea about the context and solve matching heading questions
Remember these points and practice now itself and see the difference for yourself. Good luck.
Once again thank you so much Liz 🙂

Listening : 8.5
Reading : 8
Speaking: 8
Writing : 7.5

I can’t thank you enough for the vast amount of free materials that you have provided on your website plus the videos that you have up on your Youtube. I had a week to prepare but most of my preparation was done in the last 3 days before my exam. I watched almost everything you have up on your website as well as all the videos. I was mostly worried about Speaking and Writing part of the test and I was pleasantly surprised when I got my results on the Ielts website.
I took the Computer delivered test because the pen and paper one for the same day was already full. But honestly I’m glad that I came across you because of a comment on Quora.
I would definitely recommend your articles and videos to anyone.
Cheers!
Sayan Dutta
It’s great to see your results! Very well done to you 🙂 I’m glad you found my site and could benefit from it. Wishing you all the best for 2025! 🙂
Dear Liz,
I am so grateful for all your help and tips. It was my second attempt for the exam and I decided that I needed to excel my vocabulary, I was so amazed by studying it in your book Ideas For IELTS Essay Topics and I am sure I have my final score thanks to it. I got a band score 7.5 following your tips in each section. I would not be able to achieve it without your videos and your incredible website. I went from 7L 7R 6.5W 6.5S to 7L 8R 6.5W 7.5S and now it means that I can work as a veterinarian in the UK.
Thank you very much for everything you do for all of us, the students.
Wishing you the best now and in the future,
Angie
Angie, that’s wonderful !! Very well done to you. I’m glad you enjoyed my Ideas for Topics E-book. I wish you lots of luck as a vet in the UK. I love animals so much and I’m glad to hear you’ll soon be helping here in the UK 🙂

Thank you for all the materials you have uploaded over the years and I wish you better health in the coming years. Amin

I was very lucky to come across your website. Your lessons have been truly invaluable to me! I specifically benefited from your content on the listening and reading sections, as well as writing task 1; with your tips on reading and listening, I improved really soon, so I was able to focus on preparing for writing and speaking. In addition, I was really struggling with time in writing task 1, but your videos and sample responses helped me resolve this issue in a relatively short time as well!
I cannot thank you enough! I very much appreciate your kindness and dedication to helping others. You’re truly inspiring!
Best regards,
Leila

Hi Liz,
I’m Prim, from Bangkok, Thailand.
Big thanks to your IELTS techniques and tips, I managed to get an overall IELTS academic score of 8.0 (L9.0, R9.0, W7.0, S7.5) with only 2 weeks of preparation. The requirements for the graduate school I was aiming for requires an overall of 7.0 (with at least 6.5 band for each skill).
Again, thank you so much for your help! I’ll surely recommend your website to my friends. Wish you all the best!
Kind Regards,
Prim
Great results, Prim. Very well done to you 🙂 Good luck with your next steps in life 🙂
Hi Liz,
I’m Mira, a software developer. With just two weeks of preparation, I managed to achieve the following IELTS scores:
Listening: 8.5
Reading: 8.5
Writing: 7
Speaking: 9
Overall: 8.5
I needed a minimum of 6.5 in each section, so I was especially concerned about the Writing component. Thanks to your tips, I was able to reach my goal. I’m incredibly grateful for your wonderful lessons.
Wishing you good health and strength. Please know that the impact you’ve made on all of us will always be appreciated 🙂
Warm regards,
Mira from Lebanon 😊
You certainly hit well above 6.5!! Very well done to you! Thanks for coming back to score your success 🙂
Hi Liz,
I did my IELTS test yesterday for the 2nd time, because I am applying for graduate study this time, and received my results today. My scores are L-8.0, R-9.0, W-8.0, S-7.0 (Overall: 8.0). My results 4 yrs ago were L-9.0, R-8.5, W-7.0, S-7.0.
I was a bit disappointed with myself because I know I lost focus during my Listening Test yesterday, which affected my chances of scoring an 8.5 overall. But I would never expect to get 8.0 in Writing! Your website has helped me tremendously both when I first studied for the IELTS four years ago, and now, for my second attempt. I did not have time to study a lot this time because of my current studies, but in the days leading up to the test, I basically read through all of your sample essays. Reading your sample answers helped me realize, perhaps for the first time, how to effectively tackle Writing Task 1, which I think carried my overall writing score!
I just wanted to send my thanks to you and I hope you are feeling better each day!
Although you didn’t get your band 8.5 overall, you’ve done so very well indeed. Band 8 for writing is excellent. Most people struggle to hit 7 and those that hit 7 struggle to push their score higher. So, an 8 in writing is just wonderful. You are right about writing task 1. Many people ignore it because it only counts for about 33% of the writing marks, but that 33% can be the difference between a band 7 and a band 8. Thanks for coming back to share your results 🙂
Hi Liz,
I mainly only used your videos in the week leading up to IELTS. While doing the practice tests I was only getting around 30-33/40 for both Listening and Reading. After watching your tips videos and reading the essays on your site, I can proudly say I managed to get a Band 8. I could have worked harder with writing but given my overconfidence with the English language, I went in just reading model essays but they were from your site and I think I managed to do well.
My overall scores are:
L – 9
R- 8.5
W – 7
S – 8
My biggest advice to everyone else is to not overthink it and follow the advice on this page to the letter. It’s honestly game-changing.
Excellent results!! Very well done to you 🙂 It’s often a challenge to get band 7 in writing – good for you!
Hello Liz,
I am Oshi and I am planning to pursue medicine from the UK. I gave the academic IELTS on october 13th and here are my results:
Speaking:8.0
Reading:8.5
Listening:9.0
Writing:7.5
Overall band:8.5
I am utterly shocked at my result. This is not what i had expected at all. I did my writing practice entirely from your website. In fact, I was reading your samples 30 minutes before I gave my exam. For task 1, I had 2 tables which had information regarding exchange students going to and from Australia. I did go over 200 words but there was just way too much information and I didn’t want to miss out on something and ruin my task achievement. In task 2. we had an agree/disagree essay about whether old people should continue to work. I did panic a little in speaking and had to start a sentence again in part 2. The examiner asked me what was the last movie I had watched, when and with who. My answer was Shawshank Redemption and I explained why I love it. In part 3, I was asked questions about the role of ethics in movies and what plays a major role in the success of a movie. There were a few more questions but I cannot recall them. Reading was harder than I had expected. There was a passage about barter system and modern currency which was particularly tough. Listening was fairly easy.
I just want to thank you from the bottom of my heart because I had referred to you for my writing sections. I used all your tips and they resulted in this score. I had only 15 days to prepare which was a huge disadvantage but with your help, I managed to do well.
Thank you
You’ve done extremely well. Good for you! It can be daunting to start on the IELTS journey, particularly when you have limited time for preparation, but you nailed it! Congrats 🙂
Hello, Liz. Your lessons have been a life saver. I was unfathomably anxious about my IELTS exam because my first attempt flunked and I was too scared to try a second time but I had to. I came across your website during my preparation for my second attempt and I thoroughly went through all your video lessons on the Writing and Reading modules painstakingly. I must admit that paid off and I can’t thank you enough for the service you are giving us. So here is my result:
Writing: 7.5
Reading: 7.5
Listening: 8
Spkeaking: 9
Band score: 8
Thank you, Liz!
Very well done with your results!! Great job! I’m glad you found my website and could benefit from it 🙂
Dear Liz,
I just wanted to give you a huge thanks for the incredible resource that is your website! I followed your advice closely while preparing and I got an overall band score of 8.5 in my Academic test! Listening 8.5 Reading 9.0 Writing 7.0 Speaking 8.5 I took the IELTS test to top up my Bachelor’s degree which I got from my home country so that it will be recognised in the UK as a full degree.
I was surprised that I got a band score 9 in Reading! I’m not a fast reader so I focused on skimming the passage to locate keywords related to the questions and work out the answers from there. Seeing how long the passages are can be intimidating but once I’ve established signposts within the reading material, it’s easier to go back and forth and check my answers.
Writing is where I spent the most time to develop my skills. Writing an overview/conclusion, organising ideas into paragraphs, using a variety of linking words and paraphrasing were all key to my preparation.
Knowing a lot of synonyms was helpful across all tests as most of the time, answers aren’t worded the same as the questions. This was really handy as the tests can be tricky in that way! This shows range of vocabulary in the speaking test as well.
Again, I’m very grateful for you, Liz! God bless you and I wish you good health!
Such excellent results!! Very well done to you!! Thanks also for sharing your tips. I know other people will find them really useful. You are right about spotting signposts in the reading passages so that you can refer back quickly and easily to locate information. Good job!! 🙂
Hello Liz, I just received the result of academic IELTS I had taken, which is totally beyond my expectation. All thanks to you and this amazing site.
Listening: 8.5
Reading: 9
Writing: 7
Speaking: 6.5
Overall: 8
I want to give a few tips I find useful for reading and writing.
For reading, unlike many people, I don’t find skimming and scanning to help me that much. I just read the whole passage thoroughly. For me, this really helps with T/F/NG questions and those requiring deeper understanding of the passage. Again, this might works because I’m a pretty fast reader. Also, if the questions contain matching people’s names, highlighting those names in the text is a must. Lastly, and most importantly, most types of questions come in the same order as the passage, so you don’t have to waste time going back and forth through the text.
As for writing, I find time management to be really important. Planning before writing is equally crucial as well. Do take your time with planning, otherwise you often need to think about what to write while actually writing. Also, be familiar with the types of writing questions, and learn how to answer each one properly. Finally, learn all those linking words so you don’t overuse a particular one.
Again thank you Liz for offering all these amazing resources. And hope you’ll recover soon!
I’m so please for you!! Very well done 🙂 And thanks for sharing your tips. It’s great that you found your own approach to the reading test. It’s really important that people do this because we are all different, with different skills and different abilities. IELTS isn’t a one method fits all kind of test. Good for you !! 🙂
Hi Liz! I just wanted to thank you for your amazing tips! I followed your advice closely, and it really paid off. In less than a month of practice, I scored an overall 8.0 in the IELTS exam! I got a 9 in Listening, 8.5 in Reading, and 7 in both Writing and Speaking. Your guidance made a huge difference in my preparation. Thank you so much!
That’s such great news! An overall 8 is excellent. Very well done to you! Thanks for coming back to share your result 🙂
Dear Liz,
I am currently working as an engineer at a hardware company in India and aiming to pursue a PhD in Australia. Your website truly helped me in this journey, and I cannot thank you enough for the valuable content you provide.
I recently took the IELTS Academic exam on the 22nd of September 2024 and achieved an overall score of 8, with 8.5 in Listening, 8.5 in Reading, 7.5 in Writing, and 7.5 in Speaking. I’m quite happy with my result!
Your resources, particularly for the Writing and Reading tasks, were immensely helpful. When I felt lost with so many resources available online, your clear and structured guidance was exactly what I needed to stay on track.
I also really wish you a very healthy life and a speedy recovery. You are an inspiration to many, both professionally and personally.
With sincere thanks,
Abhishek
Hello Liz! Just wanted to thank you for creating this wonderful website. I used this almost exclusively in my preparation for my test. I am happy to tell you I have scored a Band 8!
Thank you once again. I genuinely hope you realise how much you are helping and supporting people through this website.
Lot’s of Love,
Sowmya
That’s great news, Sowmya! Very well done to you 🙂
Hi Liz,

Your tips have been incredibly helpful in my preparation for the IELTS exam, and thanks to you I also got my visa and can now live with my sister in the US. I have been studying so hard and I am so grateful for finding your website. Again, you are a wonderful person and I hope you will keep up the great !
Best regards,
Stefania❤️
That’s wonderful. I’m so happy for you. It’s great you can be with your sister again. Enjoy the US 🙂
Hi dear Liz,
As I greatly benefit from your sources, I would like to share my results:
Listening: 9.0
Reading: 9.0
Writing: 7.0
Speaking: 6.5
Overall: 8.0
Firstly, thank you for your contribution in my preparation, especially in writing part, the essays and tips significantly helped me. To all those who will take the exam, I have couple of recommendations:
1. Try to absorb all of the information regarding grammar, structure etc. given freely in this website. You will surely succeed when you feed yourself with high band essays and reports.
2. Believe in yourself, that is the key to good result, as it is to everything in life 🙂
Lastly, I sincerely wish you speedy recovery, dear Liz. Thank you for all you have done for students’ learning.
An overall band score 8 is excellent! Very well done to you. And thank you for sharing your tips – everyone must have faith in themselves and their abilities. Wishing you all the best, Liz
Hi Chingiz,
Would you mind sharing your experience and strategies regarding scoring perfect band in Listening and Reading.
I would appreciate your efforts in responding me. My test is scheduled on September 30.
Dear Usman Ali,
Thanks for reaching out,
The general advice would be lots of practice. Make sure to finish lastest versions of Cambridge Book (17, 18, 19), because they are what you will encounter in exam.
Regarding Listening section, you will have enough time to read all questions before the listening starts, I would suggest not only read but absorb what the question is. Also, try to spend the time given to check all the answers at the end of each part to read the questions of next part, extra time is always good 🙂
About Reading, do not read the whole text (in heading and corresponding information questions you can read), just read the question and scan the text to get answer.
Let me know if you need any more information, I would be glad to respond
Thanks, this would be my first experience. Could you please comment on your speaking and writing as well. I mean what were the topics?
Hie Liz, I got an overall of 8.0 :
Listening 7.5
Reading 8.5
Writing 8.0
Speaking 8.5
Thank you so much, all i did to be honest was to go through your website a exercises and I also read the tips here. I especially earmarked the tips and memorized them, they helped a lot when i was faced with a different question under the exam conditions. Shout-out to the IELTS crew who were professional and warm. I am a professional geologist so i did the General Training. The best advice I can give is to prepare and practice and please relax on the day. Also it’s way easier to use your real life experiences in both speaking and writing, so that ideas keep flowing.
Thanks once again Liz.
Great to see your scores!! Very well done! Thanks for your appreciation of my warm crew – my crew is actually myself – I work alone and answer all comments myself. I’m glad you found my website useful 🙂 I agree fully with your comment about relaxing. It’s a long test and you need concentration and enthusiasm, rather than nerves on the day. Wishing you all the best for your next steps.
May I know how you score 8.5 in speaking. I’m taking IS in coming November.
For the speaking questions try as much as you can to talk from your own life experience, and imagine yourself having a chat with your friend, and not an examiner. By speaking through your own experiences, you will be able to expand more easily and flow better. Also by all means, go through the tips on Liz’s website.
Thanks for sharing your tips. Here is the page to my free speaking tips, model answers etc: https://ieltsliz.com/ielts-speaking-free-lessons-essential-tips/
Hi Liz,
I wrote my IELTS on the 31st of August. I had specific scores I needed to get , so I used your website solely and I was able to get those scores.
Your resources on writing are very good, after being stuck at 7.0 in writing I finally scored 7.5. Also, your recommendation to ‘keep talking until you are stopped’ during the speaking exercise really worked as I was able to get so many words in and I was confident throughout the speaking exercise. Please see my scores below
Listening – 8.5
Reading – 8.0
Writing – 7.5
Speaking – 8.0
Overall – 8.0
Once again, Thank you very much Liz!
Band score 8 overall is an excellent result! Very well done 🙂 Yes, showing willingness to speak and allowing the examiner to guide the test is essential. Just keep talking and the examiner will move to the next question when he or she wants. Band 8 in speaking is great 🙂
Hi liz,
I took the IELTS Academic test and i have scored overall 7.5
listening 7.5
speaking 7.5
reading 7.5
writing 7
Thank you very much for your material, especially the writing parts were super helpful ! At first i had no clue about the format and i stumbled upon your page and your answers were very easy to follow through and understand easily. You are the only source i referred to 🙂
I’m so pleased for you. Well done with your results! I’m glad my website was helpful 🙂
Just got my results!
L:9
R:8.5
S:7.5
W:7.5
(overall band 8)
I’ve never practiced speaking nor got my writing marked by an expert before the test, so all things considered, I’m quite satisfied! Your tips really helped me with these areas, especially the writing! With proper practice I’m sure I could’ve gotten even higher marks on these sections but I’m content nonetheless.
The reading and listening were so much easier than I had anticipated so I was confident from the get go.
As for the writing, I had to describe a diagram which was great, as the graphs stress me out..
I focused on just talking as much as possible in the speaking, which I guess kind of worked well enough. The topics were horrendous and I just lied a lot.
I’m 18 (and have been learning english for 11 years in school and outside of it) and I need these for university applications. All my scores are much higher than the requirements (which are usually 6.5 overall), so I could not be happier.
Thank you for all your materials on this website! They truly made me feel more confident and helped me understand the test structure better.
Very well done to you!! Great results! Talking as much as you can in the Speaking test is the way to go. It sounds like you really understood the test and the correct aims to ace your test. I hope celebrated your success in style! Thanks for coming back to share your results. Wishing you all the best for your future 🙂
Hi Liz,

I want to express my heartfelt thanks to you dear Liz, for your incredible teaching and valuable resources. I’ve been following you online for a some time now, and your videos have been a game-changer for me. They break down the IELTS skills so clearly and simply, making everything so much easier to understand. Especially the video on Writing Task 2 -How to write the introduction- with background statement and thesis statement is so effective that it just helps me to give a start to essay writing without losing track. Thanks a ton 🌹.
Achieving CLB 8 wouldn’t have been possible without your practice tests and the guidance provided. I’m truly grateful for all the support and knowledge you provide.
Thank you so much, Liz, for helping me reach this milestone!
May the Divine bless you for all the good you have been doing for students like me worldwide.
May you be blessed with good health always.
Warm regards,
Payal 🌹🌹🌹
Very well done! A great score! Thanks for coming back to share your results 🙂
Hello Liz, good day Ma.

Hi Liz,
I wanted to share my IELTS results with you and express my gratitude for your amazing website. I scored 7.0 in Writing, 7.0 in Speaking, 8.5 in Reading, and 9.0 in Listening, with an overall band score of 8.0. Achieving 7.0 in all sections was my desired goal, and your resources played a crucial role in helping me reach it.
Thank you so much for your excellent content and support!
Take care….
That’s great! Well done to you 🙂 Thanks for coming back to share them. Wishing you all the best, Liz
Hey Liz, this time it’s not going to be a doubt. I’m really happy to share this news with you. I got an overall 8 (L8 R8 W7.5 S7.5)
I took computer based academic test in Chennai, India. I made sure I read every nook and corner of your website. There was not a single hyperlink that I missed from your site. Thanks for your advice on wearing cozy clothes as it was extremely cold for me. I should have worn shoes as well. I was really scared because I couldn’t sleep well the previous night. Despite the fact that I slept for only an hour, I was able to do good only because of you. Thanks to your wonderful service for those who can’t afford to go to an academy. For my part, I’ll share your page as much as I can. Get well soon- both physically and mentally. Lots of love to you.
My advice that might help others-
1. Arrive well in advance, get registered and use the restroom before taking the test. I saw people going out to the restroom during writing and reading. ( you cant afford to lose that time)
2. Wear comfortable cozy clothes and shoes. I was shivering in my centre. ( varies with other centers and countries. check with yours)
3. Expect the speaking examiner to ask you simple questions like- why? in that case you may not have much time to think for an answer. Just tell them what you feel. you need not be right. you just have to say that right. It really was like chatting with a friend.
I really messed up because I didnot sleep well. ( I should have fixed my sleep cycle one week before the test) Anyways, I’m happy that I got the required Ielts score for my further studies. Thanks a lot Liz.
Very well done to you 🙂 I’m so please for you! Great results 🙂 Thanks for coming back to share your results. I’m glad you made good use of my site. Yes, I think many people overlook simple things like wearing comfortable clothing suitable for different temperatures and getting good sleep. They are both so important because they really affect your performance. I wish you all the best with your future goals, Liz
I got my results today! Thank you so much Liz, your Tips made IELTS to seem easy. I was able to get my required score at first sitting here in Australia. I was so worried because my course of choice (Nursing) demands not less than 7.0 in everything. I got:

Dear Liz,
I hope you are doing well!
Here is my IELTS experience. I did my first IELTS attempt on February 24, 2024, without much preparation and scored 6.5 in listening, reading, and writing, and 7 in speaking. Wanting a better score, I took the exam again on April 6th. This time, I prepared for listening and reading using the study materials available on your site and practice lessons from the Cambridge IELTS books for general training. Due to my busy work schedule, I had very little time to prepare. However, I am happy to report that this time I achieved better results:
Reading: 9
Listening: 8.5
Writing: 7.0
Speaking: 7.0
Overall Score: 8.0
Although I took the computer-based test, the results were only published on May 15th because they were withheld for investigation by the IELTS team. I am very grateful to you for providing such useful study materials online and helping us all. Wishing you good health. Love you!
Excellent results!! Very well done and thanks for coming back to share them 🙂
Hello Liz,
I’m a frequent follower of you since 2020 and read almost all the model answers published here on your website. Due to unforeseen circumstances in life, I could not do IELTS until last week. I am a Medical professional in Sri Lanka and hoping to pursue my career in Australia.
I did my IELTS Academic (Computer based) in April_2024.
Listening: 8.0
Reading: 8.0
Writing: 7.5
Speaking: 8.5
Overall: 8.0
I followed your instructions & tips readily and I’m really pleased that I could achieve a desired score with much confidence. I saw your recent update on your current medical condition and honestly was shocked. I hope and pray that you would recover in due course.
And once again, Thank you so much for all your kind assistance!
Wonderful to see your results. Very well done 🙂 I wish you all the best and hope you make it to Australia – the land of sun and amazing wildlife. Thanks for your wishes for my health.

I just want to thank you for your tips and videos. They really helped me out. I was stressed about speaking because it lasted only about 8-9 mins. I’m really proud that I found you during my Ielts preparation.
I wish you all the best for your health.
Very well done to you 🙂
Hello Liz, I scored 7.5 overall in my IELTS exam. I prepared for about 2.5 weeks solely through your website and gave mock tests from the Cambridge books as you had suggested. I was preparing through different other websites a few days before I found your website and I was flustered with the unorganized material, type of questions and answers provided there. Finally, I was pleased to have found your curated content.
A big thanks to you, Liz! IELTSLIZ, the whole platform is a great work by you and you are an amazing teacher too. I learned that you do this single handedly and that’s commendable. You are amazing! Also, I have known that you have not been keeping well for a long time for which I wish you get well soon and feel much better to do whatever you love the most. Thanks again!
Very well done with your results 🙂 I’m glad you could gain so much from my website lessons and tips. Thanks for your wishes for my health, I appreciate it.
Hi Liz,
I’d like to thank you for the help you provide to so many people in preparation for IELTS exams. I took IELTS Academic on 9 March 2024 to apply to the university. I had 1 month of preparation but due to work could not practice every day. Your videos, along with mock tests in reading and listening, were my main source of help.
My results are the following:
Listening: 9
Reading: 8
Writing: 7 (expected much worse!)
Speaking: 8
Overall: 8
Good luck to you and thank you very much!
An excellent score!! Very well done to you 🙂
impressive
wow!
Congratulations !!
Thanks Liz, your site was really helpful. I attempted IELTS for the first time and got an overall band score of 8. Here is the breakdown of the result: L 8.5, S 8.5 R 7.5 W 7. I didn’t manage my time well in the reading and writing sections, but overall, I am pleased, and the result is sufficient for my studies.
I’m really pleased to see your scores! I know time management can be an issue in the test. But even so, you still did very well. Good for you 🙂
Practiced for 2 weeks and got fair marks:
Listening – 8.5
Reading – 7.5
Writing- 7
Speaking – 8
Thank you, Liz!
Great scores! Well done to you 🙂
Hi Liz,
Happy new year to you and hope you are doing well.
I’m a professional and took my IELTS academic test just before the New year. I prepared for the exam in 2 weeks by self-studying and going through your videos, notes and tips.
I remember just before the L,R,W exams, I was anxious and reviewing your tips for writing tasks since it’s my weak area. My heartfelt thanks to you that I scored an overall band 8 🙂
Listening: 8.5
Reading: 8
Writing: 8 (woohoo)
Speaking: 7.5
Now, I strongly recommend your content to anyone who is reliant on themselves for preparing! All of your materials are brilliant and thanks again for helping so many of us.
I wish you good health.
With kind regards
Nivedita
Such great results!! Band 8 in writing isn’t common. Hats off to you 🙂
Hello Liz,
My name is Adeola, and I wrote my IELTS General Training exam a few days before Christmas. I am happy to inform you that I obtained an overall score of 9, with the following results for each section:
– Reading: 9
– Writing: 8.5
– Listening: 9
– Speaking: 8.5
I want to express my gratitude for the resources and tips available on your website and for the Cambridge IELTS textbook you recommended. With these materials, I was able to prepare well for the exam and exceed my target score of 8.5 overall.
Thank you very much for your hard work, dedication, and support. Your contribution has been invaluable, and I truly appreciate it. May God bless you abundantly.
Wishing you a fantastic year ahead in 2024.
Overall band 9 is incredible! I hope you celebrated your results!! You completely nailed the test. Very well done! Wishing you a wonderful 2024 full of joy and fulfilment 🙂
Dear Liz,
I am a graduated student in philosophy and I just used three days to review all your videos and tips regarding IELTS Academic test before the exam. I am using the score to apply for my PhD.
Here are my scores:
Listening: 9.0
Reading: 9.0
Writing: 7.0
Speaking: 8.0
Overall: 8.5
I was genuinely surprised when I saw the result because I thought I have to resit for the exam again.
For reading and listening parts, I was able to achieve band 8 about 5 years ago and I had no idea how to improve, because I honestly had no idea where I could go wrong. Until I read your tips about how to judge true or false options and listening to plural nouns in the listening part. Your tips helped me easily get full score.
For the writing part, I have been stuck at 6.5 since I was a high school student. Before this test, I carefully studied all your tips for writing task 2. I had written an awesome task 2 but I did not even finish task 1 because of time management. But, I managed to write over 150 words and had written down my conclusion for task 1. Still, I had a better score than 6.5
Thank you very much for your site.
Such a great score!! Wonderful to see you push your score from overall 8 to 8.5!! Now you can rest easy and enjoy your results 🙂 Well done to you 🙂
