This listening practice is with a video rather than an audio recording. It is a video of Royal Holloway, University of London, which is actually where I completed my BA Hons degree. I thought you would enjoy seeing it. The main building is one of the most beautiful I have ever seen for a university and I was lucky enough to live in the castle for one year.
The listening exercise is not difficult so I expect you all to get at least 5 out of 6 correct 🙂

Dear Liz,
I noticed that you don’t use full stop (period) in abbreviations. Is it acceptable? For example, you wrote – Mr instead of Mr. ; Mrs instead of Mrs. In contrast, for writing the name – JK Rowling, you used ‘J.K. Rowling’.
Please clarify, when to use and not to use these dots.
There is no rule as such. IT is not necessary to use periods at all these days. I chose to use them in “J.K.Rowling” because it helps distinguish the letters – it’s easier to read. But they are not necessary and you can omit them.
