  4. Hello Liz,I had my exam last week Saturday, writing task 1 was about you writing to your manager to tell him about the problem you’re presently facing with your computer, how the problem is affecting you and what you want him to do, start your letter with dear…..
Will it be proper to start with dear Mr john, then start with I am writing in connection with the problem I’m having with my computer and then end with yours sincerely?

    • A title is never used with a first name. A title is only used with a family name in English. So, you can write Dear Mr John Brown, Dear Mr Brown. But you can’t write Dear Mr John.

  5. Yup

    Hi liz ,
Thanks for your amazing lessons. While going through the recent exam questions, I came across a question which states ” In many countries people are not taking care of their elderly relatives but seeking the help of professionals to look after them. Do u think this is a negative or positive development” ? I wanted to know whether we can mention the benefits of people living in care homes or we only have to state about care workers who deliver their services at people’s homes?

    • Of course this is about care homes (care homes offer professional care for the elderly). All IELTS essay topics are based on current world issues.
