Hi guys.
I’ve posted a detailed answer about using umm’s and aahh’s in IELTS Speaking back on the original page, click here: IELTS Speaking Ummm’s
I’m glad I posted this short lesson because I see that some of you have mixed understanding about the marking criterion of Fluency and some of you also have mixed understanding about what “fillers” are. Hopefully my explanations will help you 🙂
All the best
Liz
thanks for sharing ma’am. i have my speaking tomorrow and somehow nervous. please wish me well. I have also subscribed to your newly ideas for essay and hoppig to reach my desired band score. thanks once more.
The speaking test is informal. The examiner is not interested in the information. The examiner wants to hear your English language. So, be chatty, friendly, open and natural. The more you speak, the better your fluency score. Keep talking until the examiner interrupts you, then listen to the next question. Always answer directly and then add lots more to your answer – details, descriptions, comparisons, future hopes, past memories etc. Good luck!!
Hey Liz
Greetings
