  1. Dear Liz!
Thank you SOOO much for your wonderful website!
I’ve got a question about how relevant these reasons are to the topic (you’ve always said that candidates lose marks for anything irrelevant…)

Topic: Prevention is better than cure. Researching and treating diseases is too costly, so it would be better to invest in preventative measure. To what extent do you agree?

Reason 1 cheaper to prevent than to cure (checkups and social advertising campaigns are cheaper than treatment)
Reason 2 a lot of patients’ and doctors’ time could be saved (faster to get a checkup than to have an operation)
Reason 3 people would be more productive (would spend 1-2 days a year on checkups instead of 2-3 weeks minimum lying in bed with high temperature or in pain)

    • Each essay question offers you the chance to agree, disagree or have a partial agreement. In this case, it isn’t wise to choose only an agree approach. Do you really want to stop funding cancer treatment? Is that really what you think should happen? Of course not. There are many illness that do not have a cure and cannot be prevented because we do not know the cause – should they be abandoned? It is best to approach this question with a partial agreement. “While it is important to increase funding into preventative and cure, many illness still need to funding for treatment.” Now you will have one body paragraph about prevention and cure and one body paragraph why treatment should not be abandoned.
IELTS writing task 2 is about making the right choices before you start writing your essay.

  2. Hi Liz
Can you share the topics of speaking IETLS for achieve more good score and also vocabulary words

  3. Hi liz,
I have referred to your adavanced lessons. It’s wonderful. The thing is in one of the videos you emphasized on idiomatic language. Can you give some more tips and techniques on how to develop that skill? Any resources or links. Thanks for your marvellous job

    • Most people think that idiomatic language means idioms. This is the problem. They fill their essay with out-dated, over-used, informal idioms which will actually lower your score. Instead use other types of idiomatic language such as suitable phrasal verbs or idiomatic expressions “the key to success”.

  4. Hi liz, I have a question on mind related to ielts speaking part2. I would really appreciate if you spare time answering to it. Well the thing i wanna ask is that if we follow the prompts given to us to create our talk, would that be wrong if we start our answer like if you ask me,for an example if third prompt says how you came to know about this and I say if you ask me how i got to know about this..
I would really really be very grateful to you if you please respond..

    • You do not need to follow the order of the prompts. But make sure you talk is coherent and easy to follow.
