  1. Hi Liz, if you’re going to rate this essay.. what band score ? And can you give me some advices to improve it more. Thanks

Topic: “Students from many countries leave highschool without sufficient knowledge about managing their money. What are the reasons for this? What ways can helpthe students to have more knowledge about managing their finances.”

Secondary school graduates from many countries lack the necessary skills about financial management. This essay discusses the causes of knowledge deficiency of students on managing their finances and the possible means to enhance financial literacy.

Some students gain insufficient knowledge on managing their finances after graduating from highschool bacause most educational institutions do not integrate financial management in their curriculum. Educational sectors in some countries incorporate this course on tertiary level education because for them, financial management is only aimed for college students. Moreover, some argue that teaching this course tends to develop confusion among students on their early level of education. Citing as an example, nowadays, freshmen are still dependent on their parents financially and they tend to buy unneccessary items without worrying about their allowance. If this practice would not be avoided by students, they would not be able to save money to allocate for their own needs and desires.

Nevertheless, financial literacy could be promoted to students by conducting teaching strategies that could enhance their knowledge in managing their finances. Some of these programs are facilitation of seminars and forums that tackle means to properly handle their allowance. These approaches aid students to practice frugality and thriftiness by providing awareness about funding. For instance, highschool officers together with the faculty may conduct orientation about financial management to secondary students annually. Implementation of these strategies is significant to help students achieve financial literacy which can be useful in their future endeavors.

In conclusion, students obtain insufficient learning about financial management after attaining secondary education; however, this knowledge could be improved by providing financial education in the possible early period of their studies such as highschool level.

    Hii
My speaking was on 21 June..part 1 was about musical instruments and household jobs.
Part 2..describe a work that would like to do beside ur study.
    Part 3 ..questions about planning

  8. Hi Liz,

As far as I concern, all these topics are relevant for this month, may I ask are the topics changing for every month? Or I will get similar topics for next month? As I will be taking my IELTS exam in the beginning of July.

    • As it explains. Some topics will be repeated. This means you should prepare common topics and trending topics for your exam preparation.

  9. Hi Liz,

I had speaking test today. Understand I can request examiner to repeat the questions, does it affect my score if I asked examiner to repeat the question almost every question? The examiner spoke very fast so I had difficulty to understand the accent.

I also repeated “why I said so” many times because the examiner kept on probing me to give support and reason for every sentence I made. I was nervous, I just could not stop myself. I felt so amusing, so did examiner. This will affect my band score right? 🙂

I will post the questions shortly

    • You are marked on your English language only – not your understanding or your ideas. It is essential that you explain your answers in full – particularly in part 3.

  10. Rajdeep Thind says

Mam m facing many problems in writing module how I can get good bands in this module… My requirement is 6.5 in writing but I always get only 5.5

    • If you know how to write an essay and you are still getting band 5.5, the problem will be your level of English. IELTS is a language test and if your level of English isn’t strong enough, you won’t get a high score. Think about reviewing your English.

  11. Rajdeep Thind says

    Thnxxxx mam for these topics

    Hi Liz,
I’ve got an unusual question. I have a student who has a significant stutter (in both English and his L1). Do examiners take this into account during the speaking test?

    • Your student can contact his local test center and organise to submit a doctors certificate.
