  1. Dear Liz,

I would like to thank you for all the knowledge you’ve imparted to us, it’s really such a big help in many, many ways to be prepared for the IELTS exam. I’d like to share to you how delighted I am when I saw earlier this morning my IELTS General Training test result, held last September 12, 2015. Overall = 7, Listening = 7.5, Reading = 7, Speaking = 7.5, and Writing = 6.5.

However, I would be happier if my writing would also reach band 7, but I know to myself there is something that prevented it reach a band 7 score. I made a big mistake in my writing task 1. The question as I remember was to write a letter to your sports teacher in your local center that you cannot attend anymore the sports class. State what is the reason why you cannot attend the sports class anymore, what made you enjoyed the sports class the most. The second bullet point I cannot remember. Unfortunately, that time I was already not in full energy level because of the listening and reading exam that is also quite challenging. But what makes my task 1 really wrong, I think because of the words sports teacher, sports class repeatedly mentioned, I accidentally write in my letter, “it’s been a long time since you have been my sports teacher in California State University.” But it should be in our locality only in the local center specifically. Funny thing to remember, my seatmate next to me in that exam day also wrote the same that the topic is at school. I hope this will be a lesson for me in the future to read questions carefully and also for others planning to write the exam.

But generally speaking, I am still very thankful and glad that I’m able to achieve my scores that are required for us to immigrate to Canada. That would be a minimum of 6 in all subtest, but overall score should be 7.

Once again, THANK YOU and I hope God will continue to guide you and bless you always in everything that you do. And by the way, I would like to share also to future test takers that prayer and strive harder for success and family is the best way for me as my motivation. =)

    • Thanks for sharing your tips. Students will be tired when they reach the writing section and their concentration will not be strong. For this reason, it is important to spend a few minutes planning ideas and deciding how to organise the writing before starting. This way errors can be avoided.
      All the best
