    Hi Dear Liz
I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere thanks to you as I owe my success with my IELTS test to you. I have taken the test and scored 7.0 in total (Reading:8, Listening:6, writing:7 and speaking 7). Since it was my first attempt and enabled, I am really glad. Besides, I am now assured that I have scored beyond the minimum requirement for my scholarship application to Birmingham University.
    Very much Thank you indeed!!!

  8. Amazing website.
You have simplified your lessons which isn’t common with other sites I must confess. It’s quite easy to navigate except that I found it difficult getting through to your recent lessons on ideas for essay writing as it’s not compiled in the writing section. Although I just passed my Test, thanks to you but you can work on that for other students.
Thank you so much Liz. I found your site useful.

    • Thanks so much for your feedback. It’s really useful for me. I hope your test went well πŸ™‚

You’ve recently changed the set up of your website and that is fine for me because at first I had much trouble finding different essays. Anyway, you are the best, better than any practice material.

    Keep the good job going.

    God bless you always.

    • Thanks for your feedback. I’ll be making more changes to the layout of my site this year so always feel free to give me feedback about it πŸ™‚

  16. Hi liz !
You are doing a great job . Due to your website , I was able to achieve my target ( over all band 7 ) . I am in medical profession and it’s really hard to write high band essay as we studied in medical language rather than English vocublary during our education period .
When I first came across ur website , I started studying but I got distracted due to ielts British books n I didn’t get my target in 1st attempt . But during my 2nd attempt , i sticked to your website only n I got band 7 ( required) .
The main reason why it was so hard for me to get back to study is 3 years gap due to my 2 year toddler and 5 month infant. It was only possible because of your website as I did not have enough time to study because of my kids .

    Hats off to you
( finally I got time to write a much needed comment as both kids r sleeping πŸ€“)
    Thnx a lot

    • Thanks so much for your feedback and very well done getting band 7!! Not an easy target to hit πŸ™‚ Thanks for letting me know πŸ™‚

    Dear Liz,

I hadn’t the chance to solve the Monarch Butterflies reading exercise before today, but I cant find it any more on your blog?? did you remove it or there is something wrong?
    thank you
    Mohammad N.

    • I’m so sorry. I didn’t think the lesson was a good one so I removed it.

      • Barnabas Gyang says:

        Hi Liz,
please what makes the monarch butterfly lesson not a good one? I find it interesting.

        • There was one question I didn’t like. My lessons are not IELTS tests and they are not written by IELTS. They are written by myself and are not always perfect.

  21. Hai Liz,Good morning. It’s really helpful that those who are preparing for IELTS. I found it very helpful for my preparations. Thank you Liz.

  22. Hi Liz,

  23. Sadhana Verma says:

    Hi. Liz
You are great. This course is really excellent for beginners and all levels of learners. Thank you very much for organizing and helping us.

  24. Your advanced lessons are extremely helpful and I recommend everyone to purchase them.I also have a question. What should the structure be for an essay which has the following task: “Discuss this view and give your opinion.” (ONE view and OPINION) Please answer to this question, my exam is next week and I’m sure that your answer will be useful for others students too!

    • On the whole, you need to discuss both sides in body paragraphs. Your opinion should be introduced in the thesis and then explained either joined with the side you agree with or in a separate paragraph. There are no right or wrong ways to tackle this but it’s one way which I recommended.

  25. amandeep kaur says:

your tips are very helpfull for me thnxx liz

  26. Kulwinder singh dhanju says:

I do not have world to say thanks. Actually your lessons are very useful every one, not only for ielts candidates. Your teaching style is realy understandable.

    • Thanks for letting me know. I’m glad students who are not studying for IELTS can also learn from my site πŸ™‚

  27. I can’t find the right words to describe how useful your website and pieces of advice are! You’re doing an amazing job and you’re a great source of inspiration! I wish all teachers were so dedicated and passionate about what they’re doing! Thank you for your help! It means a lot not only to be, but to all of us who need an academic support and motivation to carry on! Thank you once again! πŸ™‚ You don’t need to improve anything, but it would be interesting if there were more articles from people talking about their experience at the IELTS exam and who can tell us how they progressed.Maybe that would be something new and attractive, but it’s just an idea of course πŸ™‚ You know what’s best!

  28. mohammad nasser says:

    Hi Liz,

No argument in your blog, more than useful. For me, it is not just a website that teaches you IELTS technique, it is where you LOVE English believe me that I am admiring more this wonderful language because of you, so million of thanks words for you.
I have one request, I hope you could upload more from the advanced writing lessons especially about direct question essay and solution essay.
    thank you again

    • Thanks. I really wanted learning to be enjoyable and full of sharing. That is what “international language” should be about. I plan to upload more advanced lessons but I’m sick at the moment and have been for over 1 year. Hopefully, I’ll get better this year and continue making my video lessons πŸ™‚

  29. Hi Liz:

First, thank you for this website. Your lessons are very clear and I use them to correct myself, but I love your videos. I like the way you speak, always very clear and in a calm way. It is nice to learn from them because they are not boring and if I have time I go on and on with them. There are others websites where anyone can learn from but I trust yours. I bought your three videos of Advance lessons; they are extraordinary. It could be lovely to have more. Thanks

    • Thanks for much for your feedback. I’ve been really wanting to know what people think of my videos. I’m really pleased they are clear and not boring to watch πŸ™‚ I want students to enjoy learning for their IELTS test πŸ™‚

  30. luigi Pedone says:

    Hello Liz,

Thank for everything it is extremely useful.. but there are few weak points:
-layout of the site (not really friendly)
    -some examples for writing and for speaking , especially task 2 are needed, in .pdf;

this is the one of my favourite websites and you gave me a lot of good tips for my exam. thank you again!

    • Thanks for your useful feedback. Can you give me suggestions for a better website layout – i’m thinking of changing it but just am not sure what to change. I’ll try and get more pdf files up.

      • luigi Pedone says:

I can send you some links from other sites that I find simpler and for this reason I like it more, you are a better teacher, by far, but usually the good informations are not easy to pick..

  31. Mariana Rodrigues says:

    Hi, Liz.

I want to thank you for your amazing website! I took my first attempt on IELTS this month and I just got my results: my overall score was 8!!! Your website was very helpful, specially on the Reading part. Your tips were amazing! Thank you very much!!!

    • Yay!!! Overall band 8 !! Well done to you! Getting band 8 in your first attempt is not common at all. You should be very proud. I’m really pleased to hear that my reading tips were useful – thanks for letting me know and well done again πŸ™‚ You put a smile on my face πŸ™‚

  32. Thanks liz for sharing videos. Your all videos are awesome and very helpful and but i request plz share more videos for writing and some templates .

  33. alireza arabani says:

hello mrs liz. your videos and any part of teaching is really good, in fact i started learning english language with your advice, since i have taken ielts test recently, it could be say that you need to update the teaching system because british council has used new tricks in listening and reading test. the philosophy of learning english language has been changed in my mind and i think i should take a new view point which is resulted in my last experience.
thank you Mrs liz and i always prefer to learn with your advice.

    • Thanks for your feedback. IELTS is a language test and they do aim at testing language thoroughly. They don’t actually use tricks but there are some questions which are challenging for students. I’ll review their recent tests again πŸ™‚

  34. Qasim Hanif says:

    Hi Liz,

Good day to you! Although, everyone’s journey for IELTS is different but in my case, your website has been really helpful in achieving my target result. Your lessons are easy to understand and precise. Even though I had to work hard myself in improving my skills, however, your videos and short tips were highly appropriate and useful. As a suggestion, kindly try to keep your website simple and precise. I believe you are doing an excellent job and wish you all the best of luck in your future endeavors.

    Qasim Hanif
    IELTS G.T Score (L: 9, R: 7.5, W: 7, S: 7, Overall: 7.5)

    • Thanks so much for sharing this with me and all other students. I want to highlight one thing you mentioned to all students: “I had to work hard myself in improving my skills“. I really want students to understand this and I’m so pleased you mentioned it. Learning tips is not enough. Getting a high score requires hard work, excellent English and a firm understanding of the test. So, well done to you because you succeeded πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

  35. Hi Liz, your classes are helped me very much, thank you.

    Thank you

  40. Hi Liz,

It’s quite unfortunate that the layout of the text on your website really puts me off.
I try to read some stuff on your website with my phone but i find out that some of the text go into hiding.
I find it extremely difficult to read the text on your website.
I wish you can improve on it please

    • Thanks for your feedback. The layout for mobile phones went a bit wrong a while ago and I’m trying to get it fixed. Please be patient. I hope to get this fixed next month. But thanks for reminding me πŸ™‚

      • Yes, i agree with that. I need to rotate my phone in order to read the entire sentence. Other than that, the website layout is really convenient for me.

I think your IELTS sample questions should be available in pdf file too. Sometimes I don’t have internet connection and it will be extremely helpful if I can have a copy of the questions online. I use your website religiously and I am grateful for all your help.

I also avail your advanced lessons and it’s amazing. I learned the proper way of writing essay suited for IELTS. Unfortunately, the question asked during my exam was open-ended questions, which is not included in your advanced lessons. I have no idea how to answer that type of question. Sadly, i just got a grade of 6.5 and will retake this June.

I always recommend your site to who ever I talked to, it’s simple and really easy to understand. You are always straight to the point and point out what the examiner is really looking for. Im glad I used your website. Thankyou so much Liz. 😁

        • Thanks for your feedback. You’ve made some really useful points. I hope to get my website properly mobile responsive next month. About pdf files, I’ll try to put more up over time but the problem is that I’ve been too unwell to do this. Hopefully later on. Thanks again for your feedback. Let me know any tips for website layout that you like πŸ™‚

    • Thanks for your feedback. I think youtube videos are just for watching online. Try to stay connected to the internet. But don’t worry, you can find many more tips and model answers for writing task 1 on this page:

      • Flavio Assis says:

Liz, you are the best teacher I have ever found in online resources.
Recently, in Vancouver, I was taking a trial IELTS test and the person who was given the test showed your website and told to everyone that it was a good place to practice.
You were born to do that. Be sure that you help many people to reach their goals.
Personally, I want to thank you for all I have learned with you.
        Flavio Assis.

        • Such a lovely comment!! Thank you so much, Flavio. It’s great that students are being guided to my website πŸ™‚ I’m so glad it’s helped you πŸ™‚

Firstly, you are very friendly . Your cheery face and your manner in teaching were made your website the frist source for me in IELTS preperation.

  49. Hi Liz,

Its really very informative site of yours, by reading it, gives a feeling like we are filling our ‘Knowledge bucket’ day by day and heading towards a goal.

I have another question about books version, As British Cousil has defined IELTS exam pattern and accordingly published books along with practice Tests, so What is the difference in two different version books apart from given TESTS? is there any purpose to publish book with next version like changes in exam pattern or simpler way Reading or Writing exam patterns?

Thanks a lot for your huge of guides and knowledge for all of us!
    — Gaurav

    • Thanks for your feedback. Let me explain about the IELTS Cambridge Test books from 1 to 11. About once a year, IELTS will publish a set of four tests which are real IELTS past papers. This is not because the test is changing much (the actual format hasn’t changed at all), it is so that students can get access to more authentic practice tests from that year. These are past papers and students should use them to practise from as examples of real tests. It’s always best to use recent papers. I recommend students to get books 9, 10 and 11. But feel free to practise from the other books as well. Most of my students will use my practice lessons for developing skills and learning, then they use the IELTS Cambridge test books to practise full tests. Does that explain it for you?

      • yes Liz, given answer clears me completely, Thanks a lot for quick response.
I too went though your videos and those really assist me to improve confident to appear for an IELTS GT exam. In couple of week, I’m going to appear for General Test exam and for that as per your recommendation I will refer recent books version. Mostly I’ll go through General Tests from them and would not spend more time for Academic Test (Reading passages are more tough than GT).

  50. Dear Liz,

Your website and your lessons are great. You can’t imagine how grateful I am to you for this incredible website where we can find all the answers coming to our mind and you are always there to help. I love the way you answer all the questions of your students around the world and always express gratitude towards them.

Through your website I reached to 8.5 bands from 6.5 in academic Ielts, which I never thought I could achieve but your lessons helped me immensely to get that level of proficiency. The work you are doing is not less than a social work. People around the world bless you for your beautiful work, your hard work and your generosity. God always bless you.

    • Great score!! From 6.5 to 8.5 – that’s a considerable increase!! You must be really pleased with that πŸ™‚ Thanks so much for sharing this with me and for your feedback πŸ™‚

  51. fay tarazi says:

Everything goes fine Liz,don’t worry. I like your writing lessons most.

  52. Hi Liz,
Your teachings and videos are helpful. I love the tips I get. Thumbs up. However, you seem to concentrate more on the Academic training than the General. Suffice to state here that most people are immigrating and not just to study.

    • Thanks for your feedback. I’ve just written a new lesson to post for GT writing task 1 next week. I’ll try to make more GT lessons in the future πŸ™‚

  53. Tehniyet says:

Thank u so much Liz…your video lessons are very useful..I prepared for my Ielts test from your website and I take my speaking was wonderful and i am going to have my rest 3 tests on 29th April..still preparing from your website and I would definitely say that the tips which you have given in your video lessons are very much helpful..Thank you so much for your kind efforts

  54. Ari Qader says:

I would like to thank you very much for your kind efforts, lessons and advice students like me to prepare for IELTS test.
actually i am very happy to follow your useful tips.
these help me to understand how should i study for IELTS test and how improve my score and knowledge about English language. therefore again want to many thanks and appreciate your free advice.

  55. No doubt!!! You are providing excellent service to IELTS students. But I expect some more essay and letter model answers for GT. Thanks…

  56. Dona M Raju says:

I like it very much and useful for me. And I like the way you teach and easy to understand. Your lectures are always motivating

  57. Hai liz…thanks alot. you are doing a good job.

  58. Hello ma’am,
Your website is really contributing immensely to our progress in our IELTS preparation. It simple, explicit and straightforward which really helps us comprehend better. We’re really grateful for your support and may God continue to give you the strength, wisdom and good health to be able to continue this worthy course.
    Thanks a bunch
    Stay blessed

  59. Maulik Bhagat says:

Of Course. I really like your teaching strategy. Actually I learned most of thing which I was done wrong. πŸ™‚

  60. Dear Liz,

I would like to express my gratitude to you. I’m an English teacher in Brazil and I love your website. It’s so rich in terms of resources and advice for the exam.

Your videos are particularly useful because most students come to me with very little time for preparation, so I usually ask them to watch your videos to complement and reinforce whatever we study in class. They find your videos extremely helpful because you give very clearly explanations.

I love the way you give us tips and provide us with practice on different kinds of reading and listening questions. These resources are amazing to practise each kind of question before moving on to mock tests. I have already used some of them in my classes.

As for your last question, if I could suggest anything, I would like to ask for more resources related to Task 1 for General Training. Generally speaking I have noticed that most IELTS-preparation websites do not offer much advice and practice on letter writing. I would really appreciate it if you could help us with that.

    • Thanks so much for taking the time to write such valuable feedback for me, Vanessa. I really appreciate it. It gives me great pleasure to know that my lessons also benefit your students. That was my aim – to give students as many practice lessons as possible so that they can confidently tackle the real IELTS test papers. I’m really glad I asked people to give me feedback on what else I can do. You’ve all highlighted the need for more GT writing task 1. Today I finished writing a lesson for GT writing task 1 which I’ll post next week. The reason most websites don’t offer it is because over 75% of all IELTS students are taking the academic paper. But this year I will try and pay attention to GT students. I really hope I can write a book on writing task 1 for GT students which will contain model letters, advise and practise lessons – that’s my aim πŸ™‚ Thanks again for all your feedback and good luck to all your students πŸ™‚

  61. Hi Liz,
This web site is amazing. I found it best as compared to other websites I have gone through. Strategies are very clear and useful. I have just given my exam. Will let you the result. Liz, you are really a wonderful teacher. I have no words to appreciate your hard work, you have represented here.
Thank you very much for making this site .

  62. Hi Liz,
Everything is perfect here in your website.
The wide range of free adavnced materials provided shows the generosity of your character. I have examined many other online resources which unfortunately – intentionally or unintentionally- misguiding people by giving bad advices.
    Hope you get better soon.

  63. Hi Liz
Extremely beneficial, your videos are helping me a lot for better practicing.especially for writing task 2 and listening, i have a test on 13th of May ,I hope your tips will give me the best score.

    • Thanks for your feedback. My advice will help you get the best score for your level of English. So, don’t forget that you also need to work on your English before your test. Review vocabulary, collocations, grammar etc. Good luck!

  65. English teacher says:

    Hello Liz,

I love your website. I teach IELTS, and I have been using your videos in my classes and have shared your website with them.

I find it difficult to find templates for task two of the IELTS writing test. Would it be possible to create templates so that students can find it easier to write the essays?

    Thank you so much!

    • Thanks for your feedback. I don’t recommend templates for writing. The number of paragraphs should suit the type of essay and the main points to be used. I usually show students a range of options to organise their essay and they must then decide which best suits their essay on the day of the test. See my model essays and you’ll see the range: This flexibility is essential to teach for the higher band score students.

  70. juana castillo says:

I’ve been learning a lot with your tips.

  71. Meggy Uzondu says:

I wish you a speedy recovery please! Your site has really been helpful to me especially in answering the true/false questions. The area I will like to see improvement is for you to place more real Ielts test practice for general training. Most sites favour academic training.. Thanks for all your endeavors and get well soon.

    • If you want a good selection of real practise tests, you will need to buy them. You should purchase the IELTS Cmabridge test books from 1 to 11. Get book 9, 10 or 11 as they are the most recent. On the IELTS website, you can find one test for free. I do not work for IELTS, I am a teacher and my materials are practise materials.

  72. Kerry North says:

I have previously failed writing with 5:5 and was devastated!
I have just finished my BSC nursing top up degree and did not think I would struggle!! Ohhh my how wrong I was, I felt so ashamed and embarrassed .. I stupidly booked for the next test leaving me 1 week to revise.😩I have purchased 2 of Your videos and it’s been like a ,.’ Light bulb’ moment! They are very good and explanations are very clear and simple!… the biggest tip you have given is the structure and the importance of actually planning the content! Test is 29/4 fingers crossed I achieve a 7
    Thank you

    • Thanks for your comments. Yes, planning is essential. If around 50% of your marks is based on linking, organising and ideas with explanation – then of course you should be spending time planning these things. After you have planned, you can think about how each sentence can be written. Avoid trying to impress the examiner – just write with the aim of accuracy. Fingers crossed for you πŸ™‚

  73. Hi Liz !
For me, your website is the best one for IELTS preparation. The lessons, videos and tips are very helpful. I didn’t have any idea about the IELTS before I knew about your website, but now I help and give advice to people who want to take the test although I haven’t taken it yet.

  76. Adewale Afolabi says:

I recently heard about your website from my wife some days to our exams . A friend of hers recommended your site. I was a bit uneasy with the thought of an exam to test my knowledge of English language . So my wife and I studied using your content and we had 7.5. I must point out that we currently work in demanding environments and coupled with the city traffic , getting home to study isn’t really an appealing option .

So I’ve also recommended this site to a friend and he had an eight . So thank you Liz.

    • That’s amazing news! You, your wife and your friend must be thrilled with your results!!! Well done! I’m really glad my website was useful πŸ™‚

  77. There is no video for types of essay plz tag me if you have and i dont find that because i am very weak in writing.

  84. Hi LIZ.
I just want to tell you that you are an Ángel of light. I am a beginner in IELTS. Your web site is very useful for guys like me who want to get a 7+ or above band. I have started to watch all your videos in order to know what the examiners want from us in the test and what to expect in every Module. Thank you so much for your help!

  85. Your lessons are just amazing. In this commercial era you are rather the only person who thinks heartily about the students, supports them in advancing their ielts preparations instead of thinking only about personal profits .Your lessons are extremely methodical and systematic so that we can learn how to master and perfect our writing skills. Thanks a lot Liz

  86. absolutely. you are my guru. wish you a speedy recovery πŸ™‚

    • Thanks for your comment and your wishes for my recovery πŸ™‚ I’m also hoping I’ll get better soon πŸ™‚

  87. Niranjan Mehendale says:

    Hello Liz,

Your website is worth referring and reliable. I suggest if you can upload few more model answers for categories such as letter writing, essay writing, reading.
One more thing I would recommend that many students still do not understand IELTS that it is not a knowledge test rather a test for language and they lose their focus. Instead of learning techniques of test handling, they just keep reading much technical stuff which is really not required.

If you can note this clearly somewhere, it will help them in getting confidence.

    • Thanks for your comments. Many students forget that this is a language test. This means the most important thing is not tips but the right level of English for the band score required. I’ll put a post up to remind students to focus on their English language – hopefully next week πŸ™‚

  88. I qualified IELTS with 7 bands score, without any tuitions and solely using the lessons posted by Liz in this website….its extremely informative and student friendly….I will highly recommend others to use this website…presently I am in US, and with the score of 7 bands, I am open to apply at various good universities….

    • Thanks for your comment and very well done with your results! It’s an encouragement to other students πŸ™‚

  89. Hi Liz
In my opinion your site is really great and useful specially your tips in WRITING and LISTENING.

  94. Excellent teaching skills. I am a living witness.

  95. Barnabas Gyang says:

    Hi Liz,
in fact, if i say you are so fantastic, it is an under estimation. i just don’t know how to quantify your goodness to us that are struggling to get the required band score. Only God will
bless and reward you bountifully. It is my earnest prayer that God will make me scale through when next i register for the exams.

    • Thank you so much for your beautifully written comment. I appreciate your support and feedback. Good luck in your test! Make sure you review both your English and exam skills πŸ™‚

  96. Hello Liz,
As I have already informed you in my mail, that I am a big fan of your teaching method.
I got impress by your free teaching videos itself, but this time I have purchased your paid version of Writing lesson. It’s really good.
I like your teaching speed, method of highlighting important techinques in your videos to achieve good band score.

    • That’s really great feedback. I’m pleased to hear it πŸ™‚ But also let me know if there’s anything I can improve πŸ™‚

      • Hello Liz,

My concern is also about more data for GT IELTS.

Take your time & Get well soon!

        • Thanks πŸ™‚ I will spend time later this year to think about dveloping materials or writing a book for GT writing task 1 πŸ™‚

  97. Kleber Santos says:

    Hi Lizz,
What could I say about this website? That’s really amazing and totally helpful.
These videos have helped me on how IELTS works and how can I prepare myself to the test.
Thank you for your investment in time and heart.
    Hugs from Brazil.

  98. Hi Liz,

When I prepared for ielts exam, I studied mainly from books, but your website and specially videos were one of the best study materials I found online. Thanks for helping us! I really appreciate it.

  99. Hi Liz

Your site is great but more material for GT would be great as students following that route often seem to be forgotten about. Also, information and advice on how to reach Band 8 in all skills would be great too as a lot of students need to score Band 8 in GT for overseas residency purposes.

    • Thanks for your comments, Lee. I didn’t know that band 8 was required for that. It’s good for me to know so I can start developing more GT materials. If there is anything specific you all need for GT, let me know so I can plan to deal with it.

      • Mohamed Kassem says:

IELTS GT is one of the English tests that you can take to prove your English proficiency for Canadian, Australian, and New Zealand immigration. In fact, it is the most popular test among all other options. Band 8 is not restrictly requird for immigration; however, the higher your score, the more points you will get on your immigration application. So, definitely, IELTS GT
        worth your consideration.

        • Thanks for filling me in. If you have a list of points that you feel students need to know about GT writing and reading, let me know. The more I know about what students want, the more I can help. Thanks again for your feedback πŸ™‚

  100. Zarni Win says:

Needless to say your good will to support English learners are incredible. My favorite part about your videos is explanation of listening strategy. Well done.! I will be always greatful to you.

  101. Hi Liz ,
I’m myself an ielts instructor , running an IELTS and spoken english training institute in the state of Punjab, India. However many times my students ask me some strange questions which I’m sometimes unable to answer. In those cases, I usually refer to your website and the answers are usually clear and satisfactory. Please keep up the good work…

    • Thanks for your comments. It’s amazing the number of questions students have about IELTS. I’m glad my site is useful πŸ™‚

  102. I love everything about your teaching. You’re the best.

  103. kamla sharma says:

    Hi Liz,
Thanx a lot for your mind-blowing effort, whenever i go through your site its an enriching moment for me.God bless you.Get well soon.

    • Thanks for your feedback – let me know if there’s anything you would like me to improve on my site or videos πŸ™‚

  104. I like your videos and lessons very much.

  105. Yes I feel that your videos are really good and helpful. a little bit of constructive criticism. I feel that when you give us listening practice you speak too fast as compared to the real test.

  106. Amitinder says:

Thanx liz.Ur website is very useful for new learner.but i need more material for GT exam.

  107. Kelly Ortiz says:

Hi, Liz I have enjoyed your website, I will do my test in few weeks so I’m interested to listen from you information about a chance to review my essays and some other things like that more approach to me.

  108. 100% useful. I never knew the technique IELTS required until I saw your website which helped me to pass it.

  109. KAMRUL ISLAM says:

I love your websites very much.

  110. Emmanuel says:

Hi Liz, God bless you for the tremendous work you’d done on your website. All your videos and information you provide on this site is fantastic. However, when it comes to the reading aspect of the ielts test I think most of the lessons are more Academic related than General.

Could you please provide us with a considerable lessons on the general ielts module as well?

    • Thanks for your feedback. Yes, most practise reading lessons are aimed at Academic students. I really need to get more GT lessons made πŸ™‚

  111. Preeti Sood says:

    Hi Liz

Undoubtedly you are the best and have helped numerous people. Thanks for this incredible work and selfless service.

I think you have taken into account all minute details in helping everyone prepare for the exam.

Wishing the very best of life to you,
    Warm Regards,

    • Thanks Preeti, it’s nice to get your feedback. Let me know if there are any other things I should be posting about IELTS.

      • Preeti Sood says:

Liz I need 8 in all bands in IELTS GT for my PR. I got 7.5 in writing and speaking two times. I get stuck in section 3 of speaking when complex questions start and for writing I assume I need more practice. As some people have suggested 8 in all for PR is high in demand. So I suggest if there is some advanced guidance for speaking and writing sections it would so great. Although I have been able to improve my scores merely by going through your website. I am mentioning the issues that I am facing. Many thanks.

        • You need to remember that this is a language test. You can learn tips and advanced techniques, but are you producing band 8 English? See the requirements of band 8: I do have advanced lessons for writing task 2 (there’s a link on the red bar at the top of my website) but I must stress that techniques are not enough. You must combine the right techniques with excellent English – English with the majority of sentences being complex and error free. Have a think about your accuracy.

          • Preeti Sood says:

Thanks Liz for this guidance. This is so relevant and makes perfect sense to me. I have already purchased all three essay types and will surely work on your advice. I am again taking the exam next month on 13th. I was wondering if you have any paid advanced lessons for speaking?
Also Liz I read about your health. I wish you a great health and a speedy recovery. Once again thank you a lot for this great help. We all love you.
            Warm Regards,

            • I don’t have any more advanced lessons at the moment and won’t have more until I’m better. Thanks for your best wishes for my health πŸ™‚

  112. Your website contents including all videos are very helpful. It’s one of the best website for IELTS preparation I have come across. Thank you so much and wish you speedy recovery of your health.

    • Thanks for your comments. And for your best wishes for my health. Yes, I pray I’ll be well again soon πŸ™‚

  114. Dear Liz,

your website is very useful and helpful.
    thank you for it.

  115. Rabeya Sultana says:

As a new learner I feel more comfortable and also easy to understand. I need more GT writing sample question. It woud be more helpful.

  116. Lea Westlake says:

    Hi Liz,

First of all, thank you for all your great work. As an IELTS Preparation instructor, I often send my students to your website and videos for homework. The strength of your videos for me is the pace (they are easily understood by my learners), your accent (I have a “Canadian” accent so I am always happy when they are listening to an “IELTS” accent) and your obvious experience.

I honestly have no suggestions for improvement. Your lessons are well organized and you help keep me up to date.

I did have a question for you about linking to your lessons/videos on a government funded, not for profit Moodle site though. I have always sent students to you but I am now charged with developing an e-learning course. Somehow sending them to you on a website seems like I might be breaking copyright.

I would love to know what you think and would be happy to explain more by email if you would like.

    All the best, Lea

    • Thanks so much, Lea. I can’t tell you how much it means to me that you, as an IELTS instructor, find my lessons useful for your students. Thanks for letting me know. Can you let me know which page I have that link on? Yes, please email me more details: All your feedback and advise is really useful for me. Thanks πŸ™‚

  117. I love your lessons and teaching techniques. I would like you to add more academic reading lessons with specific methods to adopt on different types of questions. Your writing videos are extremely good and would like to see more videos on multiple diagrams. I had 7.5 recently which was a jump from 6. Thank you very very much.

    • Well done going from 6 to 7.5 !! A great improvement ! You should be really proud of that. I’m glad my reading video was useful – I’ll add more videos later this year (hopefully). Meanwhile, my next reading exercise will be posted on Thursday this week. Thanks for your feedback πŸ™‚

  118. Hamdi Abdul kadir says:

    Dear Liz,
I’m not exaggerating if say I solely depended on your videos to pass IELTS writing part and got the desired score (7.5) from the first attempt. Thank you for asking those questions to give me the opportunity to thank you. I really appreciate it. Thank you from the bottom of the heart.

    • Thanks so much for letting me know your results! Well done! Band 7.5 isn’t easy to hit. i’m so pleased my lessons were useful. I’m really grateful for so much feedback from students. It really helps me know if I am going in the right direction. Thanks πŸ™‚

Particularly, I like your comments regarding common mistakes and tricky questions. Anything you can add about that would be very helpful!! Thank you very much!
I hope you get better soon!!!

  125. Abdoulaye DIOUF says:

    Hi Liz
I find your website very useful and helpful but in terms of writing it could be extremely useful to propose useful expressions for writng.

    • Thanks for your feedback. This is a tricky one. I don’t encourage students to learn phrases for their writing test because the examiner is looking to mark your own words, rather than sentences you have learned. It’s better to work on developing accurate vocab and grammar and learn the techniques for IELTS:

  126. jolly sapkota says:

Yes I like your video and your way of giving advice I have my speaking test tomorrow I hope your videos and advice help me in my exam thank you so much

  127. Hi Liz,
Your website has been a savior for me with regard to preparing for IELTS.
The overall content is fine, I just think that it will be better if the writing section is divided properly for Academic and General Training in terms of videos and practice material. This can be done by amending the headings of each video/tip/section and clubbing it in respective section i.e. Academic or GT.

  128. Valsamma Raghavan says:

Hii Liz I’m Valsamma. Fisst of all thank you very much for your ielts coaching. I appreciate your selfless job and it is very interesting and useful. I did not take a date for the exam, still practising only. I need your support and may God bless you to be in good health.

  134. Dear Liz. I’m sure that your website is far more useful than all those IELTS courses and textbooks. Thank you for that. At the same time I would like you, if that’s possible, to help on reading. Thanks for what you’re doing.

  135. Your blog has been very useful, I find the videos and the post your test question session very resourceful.

    God will really bless you.

  136. Hey Liz, I really find your website and videos very helpful. You are truly an angel whom God has sent to help others.
But I hv one request that pls give more options on speaking and reading part, I mean if you should let us know how and where we are making common mistakes which we can avoid. Like in reading part, True, False, Not given is very confusing, so need more clarity and tips on it.
Also how we can improve on speaking part.
And for GT you hv Very less material so pls put more tips and options for GT.
Some ppl has written that they purchased your videos and lessons, I would love to buy. Please help, how can I buy the same.

  146. Dear Liz,
For me, you look very professional and native speaker, you look also having the right teaching skills, confident and mindful. I recently got your videos of writing task 2 essays. the three are fabulous. I wish you correct one sample of my writing as I am now very much influenced by the structure and style you offered in this videos

More material that cover the GT disciplines are wanted by many but resources are scarce.
I think if you produce more materials and videos and upload it to your page, that would be received positively by many.

  147. Sanat Singha Goswami says:

It is exceptionally helpfull. It would have been a greater one, had we had opportunities to communicate with you- for example getting our writing corrected, getting answer of our questions. yet, thanks for all that u do for us.

I would request to upload more writing task 1 general lessons as i am preparing for general IELTS.

  152. Hai ma’am,
Your video classes are very useful ,you are doing a great job .you know ,some of our faculties also recommend your video classes for getting in depth knowledge about ielts. So ma’am from my bottom of heart I am saying that your classes are best..

  153. Dear Liz,

I’ve once already posted on this website to thank you. However, as you have asked everyone to give feedback, I couldn’t resist my urge to be grateful to you once again!

Yours was the very first website which I came across when I first started my preparation for IELTS GT required for Canadian immigration.

I had seen your videos on YouTube about various suggestions how to prepare best for IELTS.

At the very moment I was so much interested in your informative videos, that I immediately followed your all videos, and I began to study from your website.

I’d not hesitate saying that amongst the various factors responsible to lend me success, your website is one of them. Because of this, I was able to score LRWS 8, 9, 7, 7.

Now, about your questions you asked for:

    1) Yes, definitely your advice helped me getting higher band score.

    2) Videos are quite informative, and up to the mark. Many of the advice you gave in those videos are one of their kind.

    3) To-the-point guidance about what to do and what not to do in IELTS is the best, in my opinion. Especially, your writing lessons & videos are really informative, since majority of candidates score less in writing only.

    4) Apologies. But, I do not have ability to judge you how you should improve. According to me, you are doing a really praiseworthy job.

Thanks again for being a part of my success.
    Wishing a very speedy recovery.

    • Thanks so much, Jay!!! That’s really kind of you to write to me again with your support πŸ™‚ It really does give me a boost to keep going in my work πŸ™‚ Well done again with your results – excellent score πŸ™‚

  156. Hi Liz,

You are doing a great job till now. Many of your videos on Do’s and Dont’s on all of the categories and pointers videos on all of the categories have favored me scoring a decent score in IELTS exam. Yet, I would also request you to release a complete set of mock session videos comprising all of the sections into one so that it would be helpful for anyone to understand the format of the IELTS test first hand. Hope this might help someone.

  157. Hi Liz. It is the best and most useful IELTS training website ever. I really benefit from your tips and techniques. I was wondering if you could upload more video lessons. My weakest point is writing and I really appreciate if you would talk about it in details.

Thanks Liz, ur site, videos & tips are wonderful. Ur pattern of teaching and illustrations are very helpful and easily understandable. I do recommend ur site to people before going to others sites. U are thorough in all d aspects, however if u can add more on the reading aspect, it will no doubt enrich ur site d more. Remain blsd our gifted erudite teacher.

    • Thanks for your comments. I’ll definitely add more reading. In fact in 2 days I’ll post a new reading exercise πŸ™‚

  159. Hello,
According to me, this website is extremely interesting and informative; I have been using it for a few months, now.

But to be honest, I feel like it is not really well organised. I know that it contains different sections, but the information within the sections is not very clear. I mean I always have the impression that all the data is a bit scattering? I hope that makes sense.
Added to that, the videos. Why have you stopped posting videos on YouTube? Your videos are just “fabulous”.

Anyway, thank you very much for all of your efforts. But as I said, I think it all requires some more organisation.

    • Thanks so much for your comments. I have been wondering for a while about the layout of my site. I am not making videos at the moment because I’m very sick. My health collapsed just over one year ago and since then I haven’t been well enough to make videos. But I think I’m getting better and hope to be offer more free video lessons at the end of the year – keep your fingers crossed for me πŸ™‚

      • Oh, I am so sorry to hear that. No need for videos, then. Please, take good care of yourself – hope you will be well soon.

    Hi Liz
It goes without saying I’d say and I don’t think you even have to pose about your lessons and videos. It’s an invaluable service and a great advantage that comes without a fee in plenty to all IELTS test takers that cannot be matched with anyother IELTS website or blog that’s available. So your blog is a fortune for IELTS students.

The above applies even to your videos and in addition so precisely and accurately, well explained in the simplest way where even a layperson can understand. It is in fact very well structured.

I like every bit of your website and blog πŸ˜€ so number 3 is a tough question to answer.

    Suggestions for improvement

I think it would be nice if you can have a place in your website with the ielts past papers.

Secondly, I think it would be great if you can summarise the speaking topics from time to time and keep updating and have compile it into a pdf doc.

Also the comments if it can be grouped into month wise would be really helpful.

Above all I think many of the students might benefit if you start an essay correction service of your own although I know it’s easier said than done 😊

If all essays can be in pdf form would also be great as some students are so conditioned in reading hard copies in my experience ☺

    Hope these would help

    Warm regards

    • Thoshanka says:

Sorry liz I meant to say “pose a question” while typing using my mobile some errors may have occurred in many places…. pls bear with me ☺

    • Thanks so much for your positive feedback. I love your suggestions. Sometimes I forget the things I should be focusing one. Definitely – pdfs and past IELTS papers (that’s not easy because most of them you need to pay for – IELTS don’t do much for free!!).
I don’t offer essay marking because I don’t have time. But there is a teacher who can help you. He offers his own service:
About comments – my technical skills are limited!! Believe it or not, I’m actually not good with computers. But I will put it on my list and see if I can find someone to help me who is local to me.
Thanks again – great comments and suggestions πŸ™‚

      • Thoshanka says:

Liz, I have almost all IELTS past papers which I collected FOC from the web. I can probably share it on google drive through gmail if it would help you. So then it would help you to place it on your blog if you wish to.

        Many thanks

        • It’s best students visit the official site for themselves to get the materials. Thanks for the thought πŸ™‚

  161. Hi Liz
Your great work is highly useful for IELTS Candidates like me. The way of your teaching is highly admirable. It’s very much appreciated.

  162. Thank you for your website which is very useful in terms of strategies and techniques. It would be grateful if you could add more essay types in advanced lessons.

  163. Hi Liz,
You are doing a spectacular job, by all mean we are blessed because of you and very grateful that you take out your precious time for people like us who requires help .
My test is on coming 29th April, I am Keeping my fingers crossed and doing self studies with the help of your website and links .
    Thanks abundant
    God bless you mightily

  164. Hi,
Thanks so much for your contribution following only your writing tips and not even the British whatever and quite fortunate enough for me after 7years since I drop my pen for any written Exams I managed to get 6.5 in writing

  165. Liz – you are a gem!! Your website is a mine of fantastic information. I have learned so much about IELTS from you and used it to prepare students so much better for IELTS. I really appreciate and value your website and would like to say the most enormous thank you to you.

I find the videos particularly helpful as a teacher. Both my students and I find the lessons and advice really helpful, especially the exam technique stuff. We also really like it when you post a question and invite people to send in answers and then reveal the solution. Similarly, we love working on actual questions for all IELTS areas.

Personally I find your website much easier to navigate than some of the IELTS preparation websites, particularly as you focus fairly evenly (it seems to me at least) on all the IELTS areas. I can’t think of anything specific that I would ask you to improve or do differently. Thank you for everything!

    • Thanks so much, Phil. It means a lot coming from an IELTS teacher and knowing that your students enjoy my lessons is wonderful to hear. Thanks also on commenting on the layout of my site. I’ve been really concerned about that for a while. I was thinking of altering it but I’ll take more time to think. Thanks also on letting me know the types of posts your students enjoy – I’ll do more of them πŸ™‚

  166. Khushwinder says:

Hi Liz, I purchased your advance course. I wish there could be more no. Of essays it has. Otherwise it was good. I am appearing in July .. Will let you know the results. My previous results were 6.5 each with 8 listening.

    • Fingers crossed !! πŸ™‚ Remember although techniques are essential for writing, you also have to focus on avoiding grammar and vocab errors. So, aim for accuracy rather than trying to write impressively.

      • Khushwinder says:

Thanks for suggestions Liz. I will take care. Also i read about your health in one of the comments. I really hope and wish you get well soon. You are too important for us πŸ™‚

  167. Hi Liz,

I would really like to appreciate the tremendous effort you put behind your lessons/videos to ensure that both the native and non-native English speakers can make the best out of them when they sit for their IELTS exam. Among the various positive aspects the one I would really like to mention is about the tips that you provide us to overcome the technicalities that IELTS puts forth to test it’s students. Looking forward to additional writing lessons and tips πŸ™‚

    Best Regards.

    • Thanks for letting me know. I’ve got a new reading practice lessons coming in two days. Once I’m well enough to make video, I’ll put a new reading video up πŸ™‚

  169. hello liz, i am a big fan of your videos and i love how you make IELTS seem so simple. Your explanation is very clear and you cover every part of the test. It would be really helpful though if you comment on the common mistakes made on previous test and how to avoid them, in addition to that can you please give us free hints on how to acheive high band scores on each part of the test, for me i am aiming at band 8 or 9 so can you please help me??

    • I’m so glad you like my videos and website. I will definitely add common mistakes to my list of new lessons – great idea. For band score 8 and 9, the key is actually the level of your English. Of course, you need exam techniques and to understand what the examiner is looking for in speaking and writing. But essentially you need a high level of English.

    • Thank you very much. Your website is very useful for me. Sending you well wishes for your quick recovery and good health.

  170. Mohammed D says:

    Hi Liz,
Yes, your videos are very helpful.
BTW… here are my results(Test taken on 8th April 2017):
    L: 8 R: 9: W: 8: S: 7 Overall: 8
Since I got only 7 in speaking, I may go for another try to improve my score. I need some help with my speaking.

    • Great results! Very well done getting band 9 in listening and reading. I’m glad you found my videos useful. For speaking, the key is to understand that it is not marked in the same way as writing. You are not marked on ideas or relevant information or staying on topic. None of that counts. You are marked on your abilities in English only. This means pay attention to moving tenses – showcase your range. Offer the examiner second conditionals, a range of future forms, past tenses – you can do this by adding memories or future hopes to your answers. Also remember that in part 2 there are no questions, only guidelines for your talk – you can in fact add any information you want – so expand it and talk about what you want. Good luck!

  171. Hi Liz, I really find your website useful and extremely helpful. The only part that I would like to be implemented could be the speaking one, maybe because is the hardest for me and also the hardest to explain as well.
    Thank you very much.

    • Thanks. I’m glad my site is useful. Speaking part 1 is challenging for a lot of people because the questions are simple, so how can they be expanded? Well, it’s easy – just don’t complicate things.
      1) if the question is simple, then give a straight forward answer. Q. Do you like swimming? A. Yes, I do but I rarely get the change to go. The last time I went was over 3 months ago.
Feedback: You answered the question directly and also show cases your ability to move from the present tense to the past tense. It is small things like this that will showcase your natural use of language and the examiner will pay attention to the movement from one tense to another.
See my main speaking page for model answers and common topics for speaking part 1:

      • Hi Liz, I already found your tips extremely useful!! As in writing, the speaking is “producing” language so my concern is to give too short answers. However, I found more difficult part 2. I had only 6.5 in speaking twice and into 3 weeks I’m going to sit the exam again. I’ve been living in the UK for 3 months, so my speaking is overall better, but I’m struggling to gain 7. Have you got any other suggestions to fill this huge gap? Thank you very much in advance!! You are a star! πŸ™‚

        • This is a language test so in part 2 it is a chance for the examiner to be silent and listening to you speaking. Just remember that you don’t need to follow the prompts – you can add your own prompts. You can talk about something that happened in the past relating to the topic, what your friends or family think. Add description, comparisons, past and future forms – be strategic and think of how to showcase your language. But make sure you speak naturally and be chatty. This is an informal speaking test – so be friendly and enjoy it! REad this page:

        Hi Liz,
        Good Day!
You are doing an awesome job. I am a new visitor to your website and found your blogs, videos and tips are genuinely delivered with a passion to students like us. I haven’t covered all your videos and tips, I am wondering if there is an example with real test sentences on approaching reading (Academic) heading for paragraphs, True, false and not given questions. On Cambridge practice material I find it’s too hard to face these questions, couldn’t complete in a given timeframe or find the sentences more advanced or unfamiliar topics (science, ancient lifestyle, inventions etc). Can you please advise me how to approach this difficult task in reading on a set time frame.
Once again your passion towards your work had resulted in more students finding your website a success tool before giving their IELTS.
