    • Thanks so much. I really hope so too. I find it really frustrating. I also have plans to start an English language video channel, but that also has to wait. Never mind – one day I’ll be better hopefully 🙂

  6. GTShree says:

    Hello Liz,

Thanks a lot for such a great effort. My husband is a great fan of yours and he everytime suggests me to see your videos. I am planning to give my exam in the next slot and preparing for the same.
My husband has cleared his exams with the following scores 🙂 and glad that your blog helped him a lot.

    Listening: 8.5
    Reading: 9
    Speaking: 7
    Writing: 7
    Overall: 8

I have the following clarifications please and your suggestions will help me in my preparations.

    1. Listening: When it is marked no more than two words and/or number and when the audio says “August 2nd”, How should I write the answer, should I write in the same format? As August 2/August 2nd(exactly in the same format as I listen) or can I also write as 2nd August(the otherway). What are the possible correct answers.. Kindly advice.

2.Listening: If I hear “August 2nd 2018”. In which all format can I give the answer please. Kindly advice

    3. Writing: Task1/Task2, When I am sharing an opinion/suggestion can I use I or We.
    For example:
I have seen children working in small scale industries, which is against law. If we notice one, this should be reported to the labour department.
We have seen Children working in small scale industries, which is against law, if noticed this should be reported to labour department.

    4. Using multiple commas in a single statement. Is this accepted?

Thanks a lot again, awaiting for your reply.

    • Well done to your husband – a great score 🙂 About your questions:
      1) The dates can be written in various ways: AUGUST 2 / AUGUST 2ND / 2ND AUGUST / 2 AUGUST / 2 AUG
      2) The answer whether it includes the full date and year will depend on the question and the word count. So, your answer – it depends.
      3) It is 100% normal to use “I” or “my” in an essay what requires an opinion. It is possible, although I don’t usually recommend it, to use “we”. However, that sentence would not exist in an IELTS essay. You will need to start preparing your writing task 2 using usual essay questions: http://ieltsliz.com/100-ielts-essay-questions/ in order to learn what sentences might or might not exist in an essay.
      4) How many commas are you talking about? You will need a comma for some clauses. You will need a comma if you start with “However,” and other linking words. You might need a comma in other cases too. However, if you are using mots commas because your sentences are so very long and containing many clauses – that is a mistake. Complex sentences do not need to long. Complex sentences do not need to contain two clauses – one is enough. Long sentences are not actually part of the high score.
Hope some of these comments help.

  7. Hi liz,
I find it difficult developing ideas while writing an essay, this lesson you are about to organize would be of a great help to me, but the issue is, I am very far from the UK now I currently live in Nigeria. I wish I could study on line but do not know if it is possible to do so.

    • My advanced lessons are online. They are very long video lectures which explain essay writing in great depth. Click on the link above.

  8. Maftuna says:

  9. Christiana says:

    Hi Liz.

Please get well soon. Thanks a lot for your wonderful videos and teachings. They’ve been really helpful. My test is tomorrow. I want to ask if i can use capital letters in writing tasks 1 and 2?
Thanks again and God bless you.

    • It’s fine to use capital letters for listening and reading, but it isn’t recommended for writing task 1 or task 2. This is because punctuation and grammar will be marked in your writing test – so it’s best to use capital letters in the correct grammatical manner instead. Good luck tomorrow!

  10. Dear Liz:
I love your lessons so much!!!! They help me a lot. But I have already purchased and watched all of them. When will you have more lessons ?

  11. Teodor Lembergsohn says:

Hi, Liz. You’re a great teacher! Kudos to you for all the knowledge you share with us. I’ve got a question about your paid course on writing essays. Why is it that you don’t include problem and solution type and two – part question type in your course? Thanks for your response.

    • Because I got sick and had to stop making videos. It’s really frustrating for me and for all students. I really pray that my health improved this year and next year because I’m really keen to get back to my videos 🙂

  12. It’s nice to hear your news. I am going to buy your writing lesson in next two months because i am planning for improving my writing skill at that time.
Should i buy those now? I am wondering the expiry date of video lessons.

    • You should buy them now while there is a discount. You can continue to watch them as long as you need. Two months/ two years.

  13. Rinat Khussainov says:

    Hi Liz,
Can you please reveal what type of WT2 has been discussed in these lessons? I have bought several months ago Discussion, Opinion and Adv/Disadv lessons and just wonder whether this list has been extended or not…
